Recommendations on vacation homes

Thank you for the recommendations mainebound & CDN PrinceCharming - looks like tonight will be another night (after the kids go to bed) looking at rental homes. I love it! Last night I spend 3 hours online and when I saw the time I couldn't believe it. It really is addicting. I keep thinking to myself - whats the catch? These houses are gorgeous and close to disney. The price is right too. We spent 7 nights at the Poly in October for $385 per night - whats that $2695 w/o tax. The money we could save & the space! Our own pool!

mainebound - I live near Stephen King as well - not kidding. I grew up in Bangor and live in Brewer now. What a small world after all. Oh no - I'll be singing that all night.

Thanks again.

We're neighbors! :wave2: You must be as psyched as we are that Allegiant Air came to town. We're flying them in March.

And no, there is no catch. Renting offsite is the only way to go or us now. I have turned on so many of my neighbors here in Bangor to the idea of renting a vacation home, and every one of them has thanked me.

Disney hotels are terrific -- I am not knocking them at all -- but we found that we have a much more relaxing vacation, and the kids are happier, offsite.

Have a fun looking!

Yes it'll be great to have a direct flight to Sanford. I'm looking forward to reading some reviews of Allegiant. Seems like they charge for everything but the fares are low so it seems like it would still be cheaper w/Allegiant air. We flew out of BIA in October to Philadelphia then Philadelphia to Orlando and that extra leg from BIA to PHL was expensive. We should have left from Manchester or Boston but I booked our air before even thinking of flying out of those airports and it was nonrefundable.

We were thinking of staying at WL or BC but if we can get a rental home close by we may just do that. I can't see paying $380 (BC) -$575 (WL-deluxe room) per night when we can stay offsite for the price of 4 nights onsite. Unless theres some catch - we'd need a car but I was thinking of renting one our next trip anyways. We'll see I'm so used to onsite. Love these homes though.

We stayed in the Lindfields subdivision just off the 192 in Kissimmee just over a week ago and loved it. Great location - about 10 mins. to Animal Kingdom and about 15 mins. to the rest of the parks. Good luck!

We stayed here back in March. Very nice owner to deal with . Great price. VERY close to Disney. From driveway to AK parking lot was 4 minutes.
Great pool and jacuzzi. Nice and private yard too.

Not to hijack this thread, but I just started looking at offsite properties today. I've only been to WDW twice (last summer and last week), but it was just me and my 2 kids and we stayed at AllSTar Sports. I don't drive in strange places and the transportation for onsite is great. Next fall my sister and her family want to go with us, she refuses to fly so we will have a car, and there will be at least 6 of us. My new Allears newsletter mentioned vacation homes, and I started looking. I even got a quote from a condo owner, but this price is way lower! Is it really a nice place, and are there really no hidden costs? This price is cheaper than 2 rooms at the Allstars!

Having stayed in some of the better hotels on Disney over the years, we were totally amazed when we found that you could rent a vacation home.

The best ones we have come across have been with Florida Leisure. I'll try and post the view off our back yard and I still dream of that fountain! It's wonderful at night.

We are currently in one of the valhalla villas that Mainebound stayed at. We are in the Jura villa. Its really really nice. I think Mainebound stayed in the other one which is next door. Its been a great experience so far and we definitely made the right decision. We haven't had any trouble finding anything or getting around. It was a bit overwhelming at first as we are driving on the opposite side of the road but everything seems pretty easy to find.

Just got back from a weekend trip and saw this thread still going. This is great - more homes to look at! I appreciate all that respond - I've told my family members about these homes and they're eager as well to check them out. We might have a big family trip in the works! Thanks again.

I am so jealous! We are buried under a foot of snow. Glad you are having a great trip!
