Hi - Traveling to WDW in November with two 10-year-olds. We have two days "off" from the parks. We are on the dining plan. Plan on doing Chef Mickey's one day (if we can get res). Was planning on Whispering Canyon the other day but am reading a lot of bad reviews on recent food and not as many fun activities as in year's past. Any other ideas for a fun TS on a day off? Already have two character meals planned so looking for something a little different.

Thanks!

Have you considered the Luau at Polynesian? Food is good and show is fun.

There's also Hoop de Doo in that neck of the woods. It was lots of fun!

Another thought was 'Ohana's for dinner. (The characters are only at breakfast.)

If you've never been to the Boardwalk area, there's lots of fun over that way too. You could catch the fireworks form that area, and stroll the area. REnt a bike.

I'm not sure when youa re going, one of the restaurants is being remodeled right now, but I imagine it will be great afer it reopens. It was called Spoodles, and will be called Cat Cora's Kouzzina. there's also ESPN, and the BIg River brew pub.

I really liked Raglan Road in DTD on our no parks day. Ohana is my favorite dinner on property, so I'll have to vote for that one. For what its worth, when I asked my mom about Whispering Canyon her response was, " Was that the gross restaurant?!!?!!!?!" And yes, it WAS "the gross restaurant" unfortunately!!

Depending on where you're from, I'd think the Boardwalk or Downtown Disney would be a good bet. Quite a few choices.
On a day off is I don't want to be near the parks. Being so close is torture.

I'd keep WCC. We really liked it there. The food was good and the service attentive.

Boma :thumbsup2

After dinner you can stroll out and watch the animals on the Savanah and if it is getting dark they have night vision glasses to view them.

They also have a fire pit (sometimes storytelling around it)

Front desk can give you a list of activities they do at the resort, there may be something going on at the time you go there.

I was going to suggest Whispering Canyon, but you're concerned about that, so I will echo PPs - Ohana, Kona Cafe or Boma.

Of course it kind of depends on where you're staying and transportation issues. It can take a while to go resort to resort.

How about Trail's End (buffet) at Ft. Wilderness? Tasty food for kids and grown-ups. I can taste those ribs and fried chicken right now...

Good point. . . I should have posted that we are staying at Riverside. What are the best options from that location?

I'll second this (if you're really set against WCC) After dinner you can do the campfire, make smores with Chip and Dale, watch the movie or see the fireworks and Electric Water Pagent. Good Stuff:thumbsup2

That sounds great! Thanks everyone for all of the wonderful ideas. This board is so helpful.

Wolfgang Puck Cafe at Downtown Disney Westside (the Cafe, not the Express locations). We had an amazing meal there on our last visit. In fact, it was the best meal of the whole trip! The macadamia-crusted chicken was incredible!

I was going to suggest the luau at the Polynesian too ... I've never been to it, but it was rained out while there on our honeymoon. We're going to try again this year.

I was thinking Boma too. It's great fun to visit AKL so that's a bonus.
