I am planning our first time Disney visit for our family of 4 and I am very overwhelmed!!
We are looking for a suite hotel, preferable one that provides breakfast. We are considering going to a time share property for the bargain, but unsure if we want to sit through a presentation. I have seen good and bad comments about Lake Buena Vista Suites. Any feedback would be appreciated!!

First trip! How exciting. Well, as for the time share I would never do that again. We did that our first trip to WDW. It was supposed to be quick but it lasted until 10:30. We were ready to get into the parks they just kept trying to sell us a time share. If you can get a time share with out having to go to the presentation that would be great. We have gone to WDW 6 times and we have stayed on and off grounds. We have a family of 6 so it can get a bit pricey for us so I am always looking for a good bargain. We stayed at Homewood Suites on 8900 palm parkway. Its across the hwy from the resort entrance. They offer free continental breakfast. It was very good. My sister in law called and the same owners of Homewood suites have a hotel just across the street that offers free breakfast buffet bar. I don't remember the name but you could call Homewood Suites to find out more info. We stayed there in 2001 and 2002. When you call for reservations there or anywhere else ask if there are any managers specials or special discounts. We like to travel but I also like getting a reasonable rate. I think we payed $89 per night for our room but the price I was quoted on the first call was $159. That is for 2 queen beds, a sofa bed and a kitchen. There are smaller rooms. After you make your reservation call every few weeks to see if there are any specials if there do have one they can apply it to your reservation. It is time consuming but its worth it. I hope this helps.

I would check the DIS Orlando Hotels board - people in that section are experts on offsite!

You have a ton of options, but it really depends on your budget. I'm not familiar with suite hotels, but we have stayed in timeshares (without the presentation), condos and pool home rentals. If you're willing to skip the breakfast, a condo or timeshare rental might be good.

We really liked a townhome we rented in Windsor Palms. 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and a tiny pool in the back. There is also a community pool and clubhouse. It's a very short drive to WDW property, with little to no traffic.

Go online to Mousesavers and see what she has to say. Join in to get her monthly e-news which will include links for discounts. Do asap, next one comes out the 15th. We just stayed at Doubletree Suites in DTD with a cold breakfast buffet included and it was the best we have ever had. She has never steered us wrong :thumbsup2

Hawthorne suites usually has a full hot breakfast buffet for free. They also have a evening cocktail hour with free appetizers and beer/wine at some of them.

We stayed at the Buena Vista Suites...very nice accomodations and a breakfast buffet. We looked around a lot, and that had great reviews from other people...very easy access to WDW.

Have fun planning!

I stayed here years ago before it was remodeled. The pictures look nice. The price is reasonable for a suite and you get a hot breakfast everyday.

We're going for our first time in March (family of 4 as well - DD4, DS2) and we chose the Nickelodeon Hotel. It has the Kidsuite, which will work great for us, and was highly recommended by the Unofficial Guide to WDW. The pools look awesome. You may want to check it out....

We have stayed at both of the Residence Inns. Both where great. The one closest to WDW poperty is a little smaller and nice. The one over by Sea World has a wonderful breakfast. It is amazing. Also has a great pool with zero entry. I would recommend them both with prefering the one by sea world. However, if you are worreid about being as close to WDW as possible the one closer is fine.

We enjoy being able to have bedrooms to put people to bed at different times. See the marriott web site.

We have had friends stay at the Marriott Village (Spring Hill Suites, Fairfield, Courtyard) . They enjoyed it there.

We stayed at the Nickhotel before the renovation and really enjoyed it. The breakfast buffet was good, about Ihop quality.

The renovation's supposed to be fabu, but in the meantime we bought DVC so stay at Old Key West usually. I can make breakfast in the room, there...

We're planning on staying at the Doubletree Suites in August. With Mousesavers you get the breakfast free as the deal for booking through that site. I just started on DIS & have been looking for more info about this hotel & haven't found out much. I posted a question to the Other Orlando thread, with little response. Does anyone have more info to add?? I'm mostly wondering about the shuttle service. We'll have our car, but my parents won't & will be relying on the shuttles. We have a two year old who should still be napping when we go in August (at least I hope so, it's the only break I get some days!!). Is it going to be time consuming to leave the parks for nap & then return for the evening? Thanks for any help - I'm becoming addicted this site!!!!

Try Buena Vista Suites. The rooms were renovated last year. We really enjoyed it. The free breakfast wasn't great, but they do have cereal and milk, too. (Plus, some others have said they enjoyed the breakfast, so we might have just experienced an off-time). We used the mousesavers code to get an $89 rate, which was great. Check out www. mousesavers.com. Also, your post doesn't say when you're going, but on the Orlando Hotels forum, someone posted about a great deal at Courtyard at Marriot until the end of March, suites are $79.
I will caution, you, however, that when you make a reservation, verify that the suite is not just a room with a pull-out couch and a mini-fridge. When we were looking, we found that alot of hotels call their accomodations suites, but they do not have two separate rooms (bedroom/living room) with a door in-between. Buena Vista Suites does have two separate rooms, as does the Courtyard by Marriott. Good luck!

Why not go to the rent/trade board and stay at a WDW on-site deluxe timeshare resort. There is no presentations and Disney treats you like you are an owner. You can get a deluxe DVC room for 20-60% off the rack rates. You can go to the Disney reservation website and go to Vactions homes and tour the resorts and rooms. You need to feel comfortable renting since you are renting from a DVC member and not Disney.
