I'm looking for ideas on somewhere fun to go that is within a 1 day drive from Seattle. I don't care which direction. It will be DH, 2 DS's 10 & 6 and myself. Any recommendations?

We did a lot of little trips last summer.
Mount Rainier, Mt. St. Helen's, Leavenworth, Portland is fun too.
Vancouver, BC is fun to explore.
What kind of things do you want to do?
Loads to do in Seattle too. We spent a couple days doing things there.
It was fun playing "tourist" in our own state :)

We are a theme park type of family. We thought about driving to Las Vegas but that is a 2 day drive. Maybe somewhere in Northern California?? We want to take off on an inexpensive get away over spring break, if possible.

For an amusement park in N. Calif I think you need to come all the way down to Vallejo for Marine World or Santa Clara to Great America.

We really like OMSI in Portland and then I don't know if they still have it but the dune buggy rides on the Oregon Coast were a lot of fun.

There are some really nice Gondola rides up in Tahoe!

I forgot, Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk is fun also.

There is a theme park in Idaho, too, but I can't remember the name of it. :confused3

DL is within a day's drive, if you take turns driving (lol). ;)

I've seriously thought of that. My boys are great car travelers but DH and I are getting old. I don't know if we could do an all-nighter.

Holy cow! Marine World Africa is only 12 1/2 hours away and Paramount's Great America is just 13 1/2 hours away! Woohoo! party:

Now to see if we can afford the trip. :rolleyes1

If you are wanting closer, you could go to Silverwood. It is in Couer D'Alene, Idaho. I'm not sure if their waterpark would be open though and that's the best part IMO. It sounds like you are taking a longer trip, so you can save Silverwood for a weekend.

I think it is Silverwood (and Last year, at least, Costco had discount tickets).

Don't waste your time at Great America. Not worth it. (DS lives near....and I grew up in Santa Clara).

Ape caves at Mt St. Helens

Second the silverwood

Bend oregon has some neat caves and museums

Portland OMSI and that one big park in the crater..they also have a zoo.

Vancouver is always fun! The science center there is cool.

Whidbey Island Bed and Breakfast and go check out the beach and fort casey (may be too cold)

Port Townsend and stay at Manresa castle...it is spooky!!

Harrison Hot springs

Oh...and you can get to Yellowstone in one LONG day drive! The tetons and dinosaur stuff in wyoming is fun too.

Why not worth it?
I grew up in San Jose and haven't been to Great America in 20 yrs but DS went about a year ago and had a blast! We were thinking of going this summer...Just curious - thanks

Leavenworth? Isn't that the military prison???

Hehe...not here it isn't!

Leavenworth is a little Bavarian themed town up in the mountains. It is picturesque and has neat shops and hiking/fishing nearby.

I grew up in the area also...remember when it was built.
Gone through a lot of different owners. Not much to do there. We spent half a day. Dirty, not much theming.
DS gets in free one day a year and won't even go then. He made the mistake of buying an annual pass one year and didn't even use it.....and he loves thrill rides.
It is a half day park IMHO....but everyone has different opinions.

And right down the road a bit farther is the Aplets and Cotlets factory....interesting tour and free samples :teeth:
