I just booked a 4 night Dream cruise in October of 2017. We would be flying in to MCO the day before the cruise. I'm looking for a hotel that will pick us up at the airport, stay one night, then shuttle us to Port Canaveral. Does anyone have any experience with hotels near the airport that will provide that criteria? Any near Port Canveral?

If you go to Port Canaveral the Radisson Resort at the Port was convenient. They have a shuttle that goes from the hotel to the port. Kids enjoyed the pool.

Yes, there are hotels near Orlando Airport that do return Port transfers. For example, Hampton Inn (free airport shuttles) has a Bon Voyage package for only $34 or so per person ROUNDTRIP to the Port and back! Others offer the same - you just have to check their websites or call. The link by FigmentSpark lists all the Orlando airport hotels (and Port hotels)!

A few hotels near Port Canaveral offer the airport transfers as mentioned above. Although the few times I looked those were not cost-effective when compared to 3rd-party shuttle companies such as Cocoa Beach Shuttle.
All the popular hotels in Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral do port transfers.

Great info! I'm trying to see if there is a more economical way to get to Port Canaveral and back from MCO rather than booking the Disneycruiseline bus. I'll check all of this out :)

Why don't you stay at the Hyatt in the airport and take the DCL bus the next morning? We've done it a couple of times -- great hotel, easy and convenient location and they give you the instructions when you check in about your luggage and where to meet for the buses. We loved the convenience. And they have a pool (might be rooftop) and it is very sound proof -- never heard the plane traffic.

Or take the free Magic shuttle to a Disney resort and just stay the night there and take the DCL bus the next morning -- be sure it is a property that the bus stops at.

We rented a car from MCO to Port Canaveral last week. It was $60 for the 4 of us. We stayed at the Residence Inn which has a nice pool and great breakfast. They also have a shuttle from the hotel to the ship. It was $4 cash per person. We were told to be in the lobby at 10:15 and the shuttle was waiting for us. Very easy, quick, and convenient. If you have a car, you can also venture out for dinner. We went to Fishlips the night before we sailed and watched a couple of ships sail in and out.

The Residence Inn also offers:
Park and Cruise: Save $15/day parking, includes buffet breakfast daily, wired high-speed Internet, wireless Internet, 2 Roundtrip Shuttle to Port passes, self parking for length of cruise, for about $20 more than the usual rate. We're probably renting a car at the airport and parking it for length of the cruise. Since we're 4 people, transfers are a little pricey and we're adding on an extra day on either end. The Hertz weekly rate is pretty decent.

Disney Cruiseline bus is a little expensive but is convenient. I was hoping that another hotel might be a little cheaper than the Hyatt. But the convenience from the Hyatt to Port Canaveral can't be beat. Just adding up all the dollars and was wondering if staying near the Port would be cheaper.

I could book one night at a DVC but we are staying post cruise and seems a waist of points for one night. What to do?

We have stayed at the Country Inn and Suites which is very close to the port. It was reasonable, a bit dated, nice staff, breakfast was good, the room was clean. We would stay there again. If you do that, ask well in advance for a room with a view of the port. It's nice to wake up and look out the window to see the Disney ship docked. We have done that also in Miami at the Holiday Inn. It just thrills my daughter to wake up run to the window!
