Anyonenhave suggestions for off-site restaurants of the calibre of the Disney signature restaurants? I.e. Places with good food, has a kids menu but more elegant than the chain type restaurants?

There are a few places in the Dr. Phillips area of Orlando that are comparable to the signature restaurants. The area is not far from WDW (about 5 miles north on 435 to Sand Lake Rd.)

Our favorite was Roy's. We went without the kids for a date night, and were very surprised by the amount of children in the place (and most with Disney toys :))

Check out Yelp for reviews of a ton of other restaurants in the area. FYI... we also liked Dragonfly a lot.

Season's 52 is an excellent choice and is located along Restaurant Row (Sand Lake Rd.) You will not be disappointed.

I'm not sure how many of the offsite places---especially up in the Dr. Phillips area---will be super kid-friendly. Those places tend to draw a lot of their business from the convention center and related activities, so do a bit of research on any of these places before going.

Good point. These restaurants are not family restaurants in the same sense that (most) Disney restaurants are. Although, kids are not necessarily excluded either.

I'm guessing some will be more suitable than others, and it is a very subjective thing so it's hard to get a good read. For example, I would probably not quite yet bring my kids (at 11 and 13) to Seasons 52. On the other hand, I'd probably take them to the Ravenous Pig without giving it a second thought.

The Waldorf over at Bonnet Creek has some really nice restaurants taht are supposed to be good. Also, the Swan/Dolphin has some nice restaurants.

Seasons 52 was very kid friendly IMO. I ate there in Feb with a large group (we did the Chef's Table, which was an amazing experience), including 4 children, ranging in age from 9-12. It was no problem at all. The kids choices were beyond the "same old, same old" too, which made it a hit with them. The kids are all seasoned pros at fine dining, though, so that helps.

I highly recommend Seasons 52. And, not nearly as expensive as the Disney signature restaurants.
