Looking for recommendation on a good, fun, easy to use movie maker software program. I have always used windows movie maker in the past for my picture/video slideshows. It has always been pretty good to work with. But I was looking for something with more animated options. And the ability to make a DVD menu. I have Cyber link Power Director, that came with my computer. It looks pretty fun, & lots of new options. But it is an older version, & to really be able to do anything more than windows movie maker I need to purchase the upgrade. Power Director 12. I checked out their face book page, & it really has some terrible reviews. Many people say it crashes often & horrible customer support. So that's making me think twice about making the purchase. Just wondering what you all use & what you'd recommend. Thanks

I use Adobe Premiere and it fits me well. I went from using iMovie to Premiere and it wasn't a huge leap for me as far as learning to use it (this was like 10 years ago), but I've talked with some people who find it overwhelming so your experience may vary. I've also got extensive experience with Final Cut which is Apple's professional video editing software and it's really not all that different from Premiere but since you said you're using Windows it's obviously not an option. My husband prefers Sony Vegas and says it has a more intuitive user interface. I have never actually used Vegas but he likes it.

I'd suggest downloading the free trials of any of the software people mention to you before you buy it.

I use (and love) Sony Vegas Movie Studio. I have the plantinum version (MSRP $80) which comes bundled with audio editing and DVD authoring tools. The DVD authoring allows for creating advanced menus and such, to make discs really user-friendly.

It's also not overly complicated to use, which is a plus :thumbsup2

Can combine source video from multiple formats (digital camcorder, iphone or android phone etc) into a single movie and burn to a disc.

I'm four versions back and I still have ability to author and burn blu-ray (not that I do...)

Any other questions about it, give me a shout. I produced the season-review DVDs for DD's marching band for a couple years and got rave reviews :cool2:

ETA: Looks like you now need to spring for the "Suite" edition ($140) in order to get the audio editing tools. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudiopp/compare

Thank you both! I have been thinking about updating my Photoshop Elements. I seen at our local store you can buy a combo pack with Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12. So that might be worth checking out. And I read all the specs. from the link about Sony Vegas Movie Studio. Looks pretty awesome. I might do as suggested & get the trial first. That way I can see which one fits me. You guys are great! Thanks

Hey Kgreen, I don't know if you have gone out bought the software or you are still using the 30 days trial version of the software. If you are interested in Sony Movie Studio 13 Suites, you can buy it from dell download version for way less than Sony web page. It listed on Dell for $49.94 vs $139.95 on Sony web page. The link is for dell download of the software.

it seems, i can't post a link cause i have made less than 10 post :(

go to dell web page and look up Sony Movie Studio 13 suite and 2 listing will show up, 2nd one is for download version for $49.95
