I haven't got around to measuring our usual hand luggage bags but as I usually take a huge rucksack I think it'll probably be too big. Has anyone came across a suitable sized bag for hand luggage in a any of high street stores?

Many thanks,

To be honest I would stick with the Rucksack option. We had so much trouble in February this year with Virgin. We had one of the small pull along suitcases, all within size limits but what we didn't realise was that it weighed nearly 5kg without anything in it, so of course along came us with our goodies packed in it and we had to empty nearly everything out of it, it really wasn't worth it in the end.

This year we are buying two rucksacks one for each of us to take on the plane, at least we know we will be able to get most of our stuff in there and be ok.

Hope that helps.

We prefer to take the minimum amount of hand luggage with us these days. I took my expandable handbag (smaller than A4) DS took his Nintendo Ds backpack and DH took his small utility bag . Everything we needed was at hand and we didn't struggle with the space available in the overhead storage bins on the plane or going through Customs/Security checks :thumbsup2

If we were to go back to larger bags DH has a great Timberland backpack (one of the smaller size ones) and I would find one of the same size or use our smallest luggage case (flight bag size) which is fine for carrying a spare set of clothing each etc along with the paperwork etc.
