Recommendations for Dinner before Mickey's VM Christmas Party

So, we're starting the day at Animal Kingdom (and, of course, Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker's) -- doing rides, shows, and lunch at Flame Tree (my Dad would disown us if we told him we went to AK and didn't) -- but we're up in the air about where to grab dinner before (or at) MVMCP.

We know MK opens to us at 4 (and the party starts at 7), and that AK closes at 6 -- we want to be there and maximize party enjoyment, so heading away from MK or AK is likely bad (also, we didn't get Park Hoppers) -- and we'll likley be paying OOP for the meal... so... any suggestions?

We're good with either QS or TS, as long as it's a good experience.

(And yes, it's way too late to get a reservation for BOG in December)

[Speaking of which, is there a thread/guide on how to maximimze the experience at MVMCP? We've never been -- my wife's never been in the Christmas season, and my only time was actually Christmas week]

I'd either get something to eat at AK before you leave or something at MK as soon as you arrive. At the MK, we like the Plaza or Liberty Tree Tavern for sit-down and Columbia Harbor House or Cosmic Ray's for QS.

That's probably the best idea -- head over to the MK around 4 or so, and then hit one of the CS around 5:30 or so -- that way we're not at risk for missing any part of the party (and not have to worry about forcing ourselves to eat before we're hungry, too.).

The earlier you head to the CS the better, just about everyone attending has the same exact plan (btdt).

Our plan for the Halloween party is spend the early part of the day at AK and then have dinner at 4:30 at Trail's End at Fort Wilderness. After dinner, we'll just take the boat over to MK.

Trail's End is a very good buffet that's reasonably priced and being a buffet, we won't be spending a long time there eating. I figure to be out of there around 5:15 or so.

I did think about a monorail resort restaurant... but my wife doesn't like seafood, so Kona's out... and it's pretty much impossible to get a reservation for 'Ohana (still chasing a reservation on a different night, actually) or CM (plus, I'm a little worried about it being too much food too soon -- especially after a big breakfast and the Flame Tree lunch).

Hadn't considered heading over to Fort Wilderness, though.

I would try Liberty Tree Tavern. Nothing better then roast turkey before a Christmas party :)

We will be doing the same thing - AK followed by MVMCP on 12/9. I figured we will go and try and eat at Cosmic Ray's or Columbia Harbor House for dinner. But an option I'm considering is to eat at Mara's at AKL. We are staying at ADL (Kidani actually) and I figure we will probably have to stop and change clothes anyway, particularly if we do Kali Rapids, so eating at Mara's would not be difficult. We are planning on eating at Boma on the night before and Sanaa for lunch the next day, so won't want to eat there this day.

Does Columbia Harbor House close early on party nights or would we still be able to eat there at 5:30, 6:00 pm?

Wondering what people think for us, we will be at MK all day and staying for the Christmas party. We have two reservations, Tony's Town Square at 4:40 and Liberty Tree Tavern at 6:25. Have not been to either, but seems like LTT might be pushing the timing a little? Would appreciate any input!

We are trying to figure out the same thing. The Wave at the CR usually has availability. I was thinking of doing CHH as there are no TS available the night of our party, but after reading this thread I may change that plan!

Yes, CHH is closing early that night - I think I read 5:30 somewhere.

I like LTT better, but time wise I would go with Tony's. You will miss the turning on if the castle lights and the start of the party with the LTT ADR.

We're doing something similiar, only Epcot in the morning and an early Boma ADR since we will be returning to Kidani. We don't want to spend time eating during the party, except for the cookies of course. For the OP, you may consider a later lunch at Flame Tree. Then you could just do some snacks at MK.

As much as we prefer LTT to Tony's, Tony's might be your better option timewise. Non-party goers must exit at seven and most likely you won't be done eating by then, which cuts into your party time while the general public is gone.

Thank you! Confirmed what I was suspecting..... I'll keep checking the dining site, maybe something else will pop up. Just glad to have a sit down choice available at all during what I anticipate will be a busy time at the park.
