First trip to WDW in May 03. Looking for a variety of recommendations to take 4/5 year olds to eat. Not too worried about lunch, can bag it or get slice of pizza, hot dog here and there.Really want some good advice for Character meals and dinners. Do you think I can still get in to Hoop de doo even booking in Feb? Any thoughts on Mickey's backyard BBQ? Has anyone been to Cinderella's feast in 1900 park fare. Please help this first timer make a truly magical vacation for her kids.!

Anyone do the Silver add on with Dreammaker? Wondering if it is worth it or not.

Thanks so so much!:p

Hi and congratulations on your first trip to Disney. The first thing I would do is to look at the MENUS on Deb's site. It's how I did a lot of planning for the trip I took with hubby back in 2001. We visited in May also and were very lucky in getting into the Hoop Dee Doo. As a matter of fact, we were front and center stage!! It was our anniversary however, and they did note that on our reservation and I think that had a lot to do with our seating. As far as character meals go, hubby and I enjoyed Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends and Hollywood and Vine with Minnie and friends. On the link I've left you, you can also see where the characters dine. You'll see the link to where the characters dine off to the left of the screen. You just have to decide what characters your children like the best and pick your restaurants based on that.
Hubby and I did the Discovery Magic Package now known as the Dreammaker Silver and I wouldn't do it again. You have to eat about $33-$35 in food to get your monies worth and that may be hard for you to do with 2 young children. Don't let me discourage you though, I've heard of many who enjoy the package and would do it over and over again by dining at the more expensive restaurants. We also did spa treatments at the Grand Floridian and that was more than worth it! :jester:
Just check out the link I left you and check out the menus there. I can't answer about Mickey's Backyard BBQ as I've never done that. I would get on the phone and get your Hoop ressie right now. If I got mine in Feb of 2001 for May of the same year, then you can do so too. :D
If you have any other questions, just PM me or email me at Serenity_1991@yahoo.com

Menu website definetly a big help.
I absolutely wouldn't miss Chef Mickey's character breakfast. Wide selection of food....plenty of character interaction....noisy and fun for kids!
If he likes Pooh characters, 1900 Park Fare is good...(breakfast...we didn't care for dinner all that much.)
And Liberty Tree character dinner is a favorite among our three kids!
Have fun!!!

Make a PS for a character meal before your arrival. Pick one that has your children's favorite characters. There are many choices and that makes it a little more special.

Park Recommendations:
Plaza Restaurant- great sandwiches & ice cream
Liberty Tree - absolutly love this restaurant
Cindy's - It's in the castle, food is ok nothing great
Garden Grill- character & revolving restaurant
Le Cellier - great steaks
Mitsokoshi Teppanyaki - its like Benihana, chefs can be fun to watch
Biergarten - buffet with fun show
Sci Fi & 50s PT - Fun themed restaurants, kids will love it
Mama Melrose - California Italian, but a nice quiet restaurant

Resorts:
Whispering Canyon- family fun
Narcoossees - seafood, great view
Cal Grill - incredible view & food
Konas - love lunching there, great break from park, dinner is good too
Beaches & Cream - old fashioned sundae shop, best burgers at WDW
Yachtsmans Steakhouse - the best steaks, our favorite restaurant
