So, I have a week in august (19-28) where my son's daycare is closed. dh and I can get off, but have no clue what to do. i was thinking an all-inclusive would be nice, preferably with a beach, the prices have me going :scared1: I would love to hear some recommendations of a budget all-inclusive - and we have a 3 year old so I of course would want him to enjoy it too! thanks!

check out websites like cheaptickets.com travelocity and funjet. That's how we did it one time.

www.cheapcaribbean.com is a good site for caribbean vacations. We went to the Riviera Maya in Mexico last fall and you can get some good deals for family friendly places there. I would pick a couple of destinations and read reviews for hotels on tripadvisor.com.

Check out the Crown Paradise in Cancun. We have been twice. 1st time DS was 4 next time was this past Feb when he was 6. It is a great resort. LOTS of stuff for kids to do. DS would wake up in the morning and beg to go to the kids club. Which has a cool waterpark and tons of stuff for the kids to do. Also had something each night for the kids. A slumber party or campout and the kids could go to that. The food is really good for an AI. It is only about 15 mins from the airport which is nice after traveling all day with a child. If you want any other info let me know but I would go back here a 3rd time. Also has an adults only pool hottub area which I spent a lot of time at.

My family really likes the Iberostar resorts. We've stayed in several in Mexico and Punta Cana. They are very family friendly with lots to do for both kids and adults.

I ditto this. We have been to the Iberostar Tucan in Riviera Maya twice and the kids loved it.

We've also been here -- very budget friendly and nice. Also check out expedia, funet & apple vacations. When you see a good price go over to tripadvisor and look up reviews on the hotels. We have stayed at many hotels that are ranked about 50 out of 100 or 150. There are always going to be reviews pro & con. Some people are expecting 5 star for 3 star prices. If you are ok with Hampton inns, holiday inns, embassy suites than these would be fine.

Iberostars are nice, but usually pretty expensive. Keep looking - you will find something. Mexico/cancun is usually cheaper than Dominican republic or jamaica.
