I have just booked a 2BR at OKW for my family
of 8. It is our first time staying at the resort and I would
like to stay in an area that is good for the kids and accessible
to the pool and main resort area and its offerings.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to where I should request
to stay?? Is there anything else that I need to know about the locations
of the 2BR at OKW??:grouphug:
Thanks!

I would suggest the HH category if you want to be close to the main pool and activities of the resort. If you can not get a HH category specifically, I would suggest buildings 62, 63, 65 or 16 which are all very close to the HH but are not classified as such for booking. As far as anything else you need to know I'd say OKW is a good choice for a family of 8 as it has the largest rooms of all the DVC resorts. Beyond that, yould have to be more specific with questions in order to get more specific answers...

What do you mean when you say "HH"???

Hospitality House - it is where you check in, where restuarant, general store, snack bar, main pool, marina, tennis court, basketball, etc are located.

so for your needs a HH - which is a guaranteed view - would work well.

here is a map

these are building 11-14, 23-26

as you can see there is still some near HH that is not in there HH request - so even you can't get one of them - there is still hope.

building 62-64 - are the only ones with elevators.

There is no building 65 at OKW. I for one think the HH area is over rated. There are 3 additional pools in the OKW complex, and each has a play area and hot tub as well as a shower building etc. ALL areas of OKW are easily accesible to the HH pool since most units are near a bus stop and ALL buses stop at HH last before leaving the resort. Also, with a couple of exceptions, most buildings are less than a 10 minute stroll to HH.

I would request Turtle Pond road or South Point area buildings. These buildings will all have the extra door to the bathroom, and it sounds like you will want that if you have 8 in a 2 bedroom. The HH area buildings do NOT have that extra door, so living room guests need to go through the master bedroom to get to the bathroom in those areas. Here is the map.

I just wanted to add that buildings 62, 63, and 64 would be close to HH and also would have elevators, but those buildings are often saved for folks with mobility issues. Buildings 30 and higher have that extra door to the bathroom, so you could use that information when making your request as well.

We just got back from OKW on the 14th and stayed a week in a 2BR. We stayed in 4214. It has a great location and you are about 40 ft from the pool and the turtle snack shop, laundry, hot tub, etc....GREAT LOCATION!!

We can't wait to go back. :yay:
