We are headed to Disneyland for our daughter's 7th birthday in October. We bought tickets for Mickey's Halloween party and I've heard about the button thing, but was looking for some other ideas. I've never done a character meal and thought one of those would be fun, but wasn't sure what place is good for that and what time to go. I was kind of thinking of doing a breakfast at the Plaza Inn before the park was open so that we could be in early and see the park empty. But then I'm not sure if she'll be able to get her button to wear to breakfast. I was thinking of doing the Pat E. Cake party, but heard they discontinued that. I'm sure she'll have fun no matter what. I just wanted to do a few extra's for her while we were there. We went last year for her first time and didn't eat much other than snacks in the park, I want to do more this year to make it more all inclusive. Thanks ahead for the suggestions!

We took DS for his 5th birthday last year. We booked the Surfing with Mickey breakfast. At first we had it scheduled first thing on the morning of his birthday. Then we realized that was the day we could do the early entry. So we rescheduled for a little while later. It was really fun. From what I've read it has more characters than the other character meals. For dinner we did the Rainforest Cafe. Not everyones thing, but our family LOVES it. We got the Volcano for dessert. Yummy. Also first thing before he even woke up we put a gift on his bed and signed the tag from Mickey and Minnie.
As for the buttons, we go ours when we got our tickets at the booth.

EDIT: Ok I just re read this and realized I skipped a whole sentice. I added it in red.

Early breakfast at the Plaza sounds great! What about a makeover at BBB? I know my 7 DDs would love a birthday princess makeover!
No matter what, she will have a fabulous birthday!!

I think Plaza Inn (Minnie and Friends) breakfast is a perfect birthday celebration! I would schedule it for like 10:30 on your early entry day! You can go into the park and get on some rides, get your daughter's birthday button, then have a late breakfast! We took my 6 yo niece there in March and she LOVED it!!!

I second the suggestion of a make over at BBB! Again, my 6 yo niece was in heaven!!!

Great mom's think alike.

We are taking our youngest to Disneyland for her 7th birthday in October as well :yay:

And we are doing Minnie's the first day we are there.

We bought tickets for the Halloween party and I plan on making her a reservation for BBB.

This will be our first trip to Disneyland and it's a surprise.

When are you going in October? We'll be there the 20th thru 24th. I'm really excited no matter what we end up doing.

I doubt we will do the BBB. My daughter isn't into that at all. She told me that it's "not very cool" when I asked her about it. She's more into Tinkerbell and characters like Goofy and Pluto. I was thinking of taking her to Blue Bayou, but actually haven't heard the best reviews about it. Last year was our first year there and we only went to the corn dog stand, Rancho del Zocalo, and the Golden Horseshoe for a dessert (which we ate outside because it was so crowded). I'd like to go to try a few more, but ones that she would appreciate more maybe. We are skimping on hotels so we can enjoy more in the park that way.

When I was a kid we went to the ice cream parlor and for some reason I think I'm remembering a candy shop that we watched them make candy. The ice cream parlor was closed when we went last year, and I don't know if the candy shop is the same or not. I'm going to try and include some more things like that on this trip. Thanks for all the help. It looks like I'm on the right path so far!

I have a 7 year old DD. She likes Blue Bayou, but it would never be her choice at DL for her birthday. She would definitely pick a character meal instead. Minnie's Breakfast is our favorite. I agree with the PP that said to do a later breakfast. We usually try to do ours around 10:15. We have found that gives us a chance to do a few things around the park before breakfast and that it also gets us to Minnie's when the breakfast crowd is thinning out which means the characters spend more time with DD. We've never seen less than 7 characters there, and one time we even saw 12 characters during our meal!

Ok, I might do that. I was thinking if I made early reservations before the park opened ( on a day that doesn't have early entry) it might be better. But if later is better I will do that. We usually aren't early eaters anyways. I've never been there so I'll trust the people who have. Thanks!

The candy shop is on Main St right next to Gibson Girl Ice Cream and you can watch them make candy! You can also watch them make treats at Pooh's Corner in Critter Country.

I've done the Minnie & friends breakfast and loved it! Lots of characters. Good food. And the characters came around for lots of interactions. It was really fun!

Have a great trip!

We just celebrated our daughter's 8th birthday at Disneyland! Her birthday is also Disneyland's birthday, so people paid extra attention. We did Surf's Up first thing and they gave her her button there, so I bet you can get one at breakfast. A couple button tips, her name washed off immediately on Splash Mountain. But, go to Studio 365 to get her name on it. They wrote it in purple, then sprayed it with hairspray and sprinkled it with glitter. It made it an extra special button! Also, at opening employees stand on Main Street with their big Mickey hands, my daughter ran down Main Street giving them all five and one after another you hear "Happy Birthday", "Happy Birthday Princess". It brought tears to my eyes watching her enjoy her day like that!!

We just celebrated my daughter's 6th birthday in Disneyland. We did the Discover the Magic tour as her big surprise and she loved it! It was a treasure hunt through each of the lands. They looked for treasure chests and got clues sending them to different parts of the park. We got to go on a few rides through the exit, and ended up at Mickey's house where he gave us a medal. Then our tour guides got us frozen apple juice in a souvenir cup. After the tour, we had some lunch, let her pick a couple rides, then went for dinner at Goofy's Kitchen.

We are celebrating my son's 7th birthday in October at Disneyland too!

We also went for his 5th birthday in 2011 and had the breakfast at the Plaza Inn. He had so much fun. Not much eating, but a whole lot of dancing and mixing with the characters. As it wasn't the first day we'd been to Disneyland, we got the birthday button earlier (we actually ended up with a few of them as his name kept getting smudged so we'd go get another).

This year we are doing the Surf's Up breakfast, just to mix it up a bit (and we know from last time, that Daisy is hard to meet, so this will be a good opportunity to see her). We are also getting a special birthday celebration box prepared with heaps of Cars goodies and this will be delivered to our room on his birthday. I can't wait to see his face!

We will be there the same time and staying off stie as well. We arrive in Anaheim the night of the 20th and head for home on the 26th. What night are you doing the Halloween party?

If she likes Tinkerbell they have her costume at BBB. Or if she likes pirates last year they did a Pirates League maybe she would enjoy something like that if they do it again this year.

Must be the age cause my little one loves Goofy and Pluto too, but she does love getting all dolled up like a princess too.

We are doing the party the 21st. We fly home the afternoon of the 25th and been debating on upgrading our tickets and spending the morning at Disneyland. I think it'll only cost $15 to upgrade, I might as well enjoy it while we are there. My daughter's birthday actually falls on the 26th, but we are going to do a family birthday party when we get home. The grandmas don't like missing birthdays. :) I'm getting so excited for our trip! I know no matter what we do it'll be fun.
