DH never requests anything. Each year he lets me do all the planning. He has finally made a request... He wants a nice steak or crab legs for dinner!

We generally do a lot of counter service at Disney, with a character meal or 2. I'm looking for recommendations for a place where DH can get a nice Steak. We're just an average family with a taste for chain-retaurants. When we go out, it'll be to the Outback Steakhouse, Applebees, Delmonico's, or Red Lobster.
The "Outback Special" (from The Outback of course!) is his all-time fave. He's not one for suaces or gravy's, just a nice, well-seasoned steak, usually a sirloin or Porterhouse. He also loves Prime Rib and crab-legs.

We're not looking to spend a fortune and will have DD5 with us (but she's well-behaved)... Shula's and Yachtsman are out. What other restaurants would you recommend for a well-seasoned but not overly sacced steak or crab-legs that an average guy like my DH would like.

I was HOPING to squeeze it into our Epcot day, so something in World Showcase or walking distance from the gateway would be great, but other places are OK too.

(We're not on the Dining Plan)

TAHNKS!

If your going to Epcot I would try either LC or Coral Reef. Coral Reef you should be able to get both. Both are very good :thumbsup2

We LOVE Le Cellier. I had the Coffee rubbed Kansas Strip Steak and my husband had the Mushroom Filet Mignon. Oh my gosh. It was so so good!! :)

I also would say Le Cellier (filet mignon, new york strip and prime rib)or Coral Reef.(new york strip) I've ordered the steak both times and they are really good!!! Also, Teppan Edo has filet mignon and new york strip. Not sure how they are though because i've never been there (thats for the next trip :) ) If he would like his steak more plain without sauces and all they are happy to accomadate. Hope this helps:goodvibes

Another vote for La Cellier, fits into your Epcot day and the best steaks we have had...its an every year event for us!

Le Cellier is a tough ADR to get, so if you can't get it, I would recommend the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club (the YC is a 5 minute walk from the International Gateway). The restaurant shares some kitchen areas with Yachtsman Steakhouse. I don't know if that means the beef is as good there as it is at YS, but it seems like it would be worth a try.

Thanks. I was already debating between Le Cellier and Coral Reef but figured I should ask the pros. I know DD would love Coral Reef... how's the atmosphere at Le Cellier for kids?

Yachtsman Steak House. Short walking distance from Epcot. Yummmmm

ADR's are 90-days out, is that correct? That puts me at Thursday or Friday to call for the 2 days I'm considering, that's why I'm trying to decide right now!

Outback Special is my FAVORITE dinner as well, so here's my input (though it doesn't appear that it's needed.)

LeCellier!!!!!!

I had the fillet and DH had the strip steak and both were OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!

Funny thing, we treated ourselves to Cali grill this year and after our meal we both said we wish we'd have saved the money and go to Outback. The view was beautiful but I't take the Outback special and loaded potato over my meal at Cali Grill anyday!!!! But LeCellier, that meal left me weak in the knees!!!:lmao:

OH, and all my kids loved LeCellier as well. They loved to get steak and got the glowing Tinkerbell drinks, they loved that!!!! Also, I gave them my dessert, the Chocolate Moose, yummy and adorable!

Thanks!!! That's exactly why I bored you with the details of his preferences! We've spent a lot of $ at some nice places only for him to say "I would rather have had the Outback Special!"
I see you have kids- How will DD like Le Cellier? Anything special or distracting for the kids there?

Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club has a few steaks on their menu - they don't have the same as the Yachtsman(they hand cut theirs) but they are still good. You can walk there from Epcot out the back entrance.

I would say definitely Le Cellier. The Mushroom Filet is very good :thumbsup2 and so is the Maple Creme Brulee.

Zero complaints on Le Cellier here! The mushroom fillet is pretty special. Once, I had a steak at Chefs de France, and it was perfectly cooked.

Just coloring outside the lines a bit here ... but the teriyaki steak at Kona Cafe at the Poly was doggone good, too.

I'd love for someone who has had steak at The Wave to chime in. That's a relatively new joint I'd like to try.

ETA: That Outback special is one of my favorite "casual dining" restaurants piece of meat, too ... a really good bang for the buck.

Nothing "special", but my kids really enjoyed it. They ordered the Tink drinks with the light up Tinkerbells on it, they liked that. I also ordered a chocolate raspberry milkshake and DH had a mango smoothie that we sipped but mostly they drank and loved. They also loved the pretzel bread (we all did) and got seconds (and thirds:rotfl2: ) on that. We dipped it in the cheddar cheese soup which we all loved. Also, like I said, I let them order my dessert, they got the chocolate moose (DD14 got her own meal, I am speaking of the younger 2 girls). They liked being able to order steak.

Believe me, we really regretted Cali Grill, we could have gone to Outback like 4 times!!!! Maybe more.

While there was no "entertainment" factor, they really enjoyed the meal. Where are you in NY?

Thankfully that steak can’t fill a bra or he’d have left me a long time ago!

Thanks, it sounds like Le Cellier is a winner. I'll order DD a Tink Drink & she'll be good to go! We live in Rotterdam, near Schenectady & Albany. We lived in East Syracuse for a few years while I was finishing school at SU. While in Syracuse we knew NO ONE and I must admit, just to get out of the house, we'd hit the Outback there once a week! VERY SAD!
Where in NY are you?

Jiko has the best filet and the NY Strip at the Grand Floridian Cafe and Flying Fish was awesome! The NY strip from Coral Reef was blech, DH had it the other night and didnt like it

We are in Rochester. We lived in Watertown (Ft Drum) for a couple years, now that's North Country!;) :rotfl2:

Funny you say that about Outback. When we first moved here we knew no one either so we would go to Outback about once a week too. We were broke back then (not that we aren't now :rotfl2: )so we'd get an order of cheese fries to share and a big splurge night we'd share one Outback Special between the 3 of us (ony one DD age 2 at the time.) It was a way to get out though!

This thread is helpful for me too. We normally do nice breakfasts and pretty much counter service otherwise, but I would like to branch out a little for this next trip.

For the Le Cellier fans here: Can I get just as good of a steak with a lunch ADR, or is dinner the only way to go?

If you are looking for the mosty tasty steak you'll ever eat... Go to Le Cellier in Epcot... The mushroom filet was so tender, it could have been cut with a plastic spoon... amazing... :goodvibes
