Recommend a hotel for cruise out of Port Canaveral?

Thank you all so much for your responses! I haven't tried the children's Bonine (or any Bonine actually!) but that's a wonderful idea. I get a little carsick myself, especially if I'm not in the front seat. I think my plan is to do the drive 5 hours and then drive 4 hours the morning of. Since we will be getting off the ship early, maybe we can make it all the way back home on the last day. I'll also be continuing my stalking of Southwest's website. :) I really appreciate everyone's input!

And Bonine is non-drowsy. Good luck and hope you get the pricing you want.

Thanks for all of your replies! My head is swimming with options. Kids will be 9 and 4, and the 4 year old is not a good car rider. My options seem to be:

1) split the drive into two parts of about 5 and 4 hours, departing our "halfway" point the morning of the cruise

Any advice is definitely welcome!

This is what my inlaws do for all trips to Orlando and for trips to the Port. They drive most of the way, and leave 3 hours or so for the last day. breaks it up and everyone gets a good night of sleep and pool time! We drive with a toddler the 12 hours to my momthers house and then take the 2 hours to the port for embarkation. So I totally understnd about wanting to minimize time in the car. However, we are budget conscious so usually choose cost savings over time savings.

Would the three hour point be somewhere in the Jacksonville area?

I think Jacksonville is only about 2 hours or so, but is a big city with plenty of places if you need to find a room for the night. They stop near Lake City since they come down I-75 from Atlanta.
