It's only Sunday, but I am looking forward to my 5-day weekend that starts on Wednesday night!!! :cool1:  :thumbsup2

I plan on nice weather :worship:, and much drinking of red wine!

I'm tired of my usuals. I want to try something new.

Any recommendations on good (and EASY TO FIND) reds?

Seghesio makes great zinfandels - the Sonoma County Zinfandel is $18 at Costco, plan on closer to $22 elsewhere. I always keep this on hand.

Cambria Julia's Vineyard Pinot Noir - again around $18-20 at Costco.
The Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay is also really good, and I'm not a huge chardonnay fan.

To go a little lower in price - Castle Rock Pinot Noir is $9 at Costco, $12-13 at a local store. An easy to find red blend that is very drinkable is the Menage a Trois red - again $9 at Costco and $12 or so locally.

I drank a Malbec from Argentina last night - these tend to be lower in price but very tasty - fruity and not too much tannin. Don't remember the label though.

My favorite reasonably priced red is the Coppola Claret, which is in the $13-15 range.

Another favorite is Ferrari-Carano's Siena.

I also enjoy Silver Palm Cabernet.

My DH and I buy our wine by the label....if the label is cool, we try it. We try not to spend more than $10 for a regular sized bottle. Right now, we are drinking House Wine. The label is black and white, and it looks no frills. It's a red blend...pretty good! It was $9.99....

I want to try this one...our state store had it on sale for $9.99....not sure for how long though!

Do you have a Trader Joe's near by? If so check out their wine selection. They have an awesome variety and their store brand "Charles Shaw" is really good. The Charles Shaw reds are Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvingnon. My favorite is the Shiraz. The best part is they are only $2.79 a bottle and they are all really good! Now I've tried other "cheap wines" and they can be pretty gross but my wino friends and I all enjoy some "Two Buck Chuck". :lmao:

Menege a Trois red YUMM!~

Love love love this wine! Has been a hit with all of my friends and my parents have started bringing it to their supper club. All agree that it is YUMMY!

Runs about 9.99 to 13.99 a bottle depending on where you shop.

I have been wanting to try Two Buck Chuck, but no trader joes, near us. Next time I am near one, I will be sure to buy this!

I agree with the doctor only one glass a day, only problem here is that it is only half full!!:thumbsup2

This weekend I bought a bottle of 'California Red Wine' and it was really good!

I like pinot noirs.

Red truck is pretty good. Barefoot is also good. There's one with a blue label with a rooster on it..Rex Something it's called. That one's good too. I also pick my wines based on how I like the label. ;)

Barefoot also makes a good red Zinfandel. I was at a tasting and had it.

Smoking Loon makes a good wine too...I have tried and liked their cabernet.

Menage a Trois is good as well...3 different kinds of grapes...hence the name....

I mostly do $10-ish per bottle.

Paul Hobbs Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is our favorite. So rich and full bodied, a little pricey but worth every penny. I had some last night, as a matter of fact!

Have you ever tried Chianti? It's my all time favorite type of red wine. Although I may be a bit bias because I spent a semester in Florence, which is in the Chianti-region of Italy.

I personally like DaVinci's Chianti. it's about $12 for a bottle. :)

Greg Norman Estates makes a red that is a blend (Cabernet/Merlot) and it is excellent. Also like the Luna di Luna blend (Sangiovese/Merlot).

For a reliable cheap red, Barefoot Cabernet.
