Recognizing DIS'ers @ the Parks???

I approached a whole family wearing head to toe lime green last year, they were only wearing it 'cos its unusual and they could keep a better eye on the kids! very sad, when I explained about the Dis they looked at me like I was mad!

Quick question about your lgmh's. Do you cut them out before you laminate them, or do you laminate the whole card?
Thanks

We always have our lime green Mickey heads on our backpack in plain sight, and are always on the lookout for Diser's, but just have never run into any. Even trying to strike up conversations with people with lime somewear on them, but no luck.

A few years ago while going thru the line at Peter Pan another diser noticed my Lime green Mickey head- The line was moving pretty fast (!) so we were only able to do some quick hellos- I have my screen name written on it so it was pretty funny to hear "Hey jiggerj!!! Im...... from the dis boards!" I cant remeber her name but it was really cool to be "recognized!" :thumbsup2

I look for lime green but haven't seen any. This trip I will be wearing a light green shirt one day, so say hi! My Lime green Mickey heads are now Mickey with crooked ear heads. DD helped me cut them when she saw me doing it. So unless I go to HD, no Mickey heads here.

If you soak the lgmh for a few minutes, it will slide right off the white cardboard rectangle.

I have my lgm on my camera case. Most of the time, I meet Disers on the bus. There's that bit of time where we're all waiting to get somewhere, and conversations just seem to start up.

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing this. I was going to cut mine out tonight. You just soak them in water? How long did you soak yours? It will not bother the lgmh?

BTW, I will have my lgmh's laminated and tied to my backpack with lime green ribbon. I too have a DH that refuses to talk to strangers. He thinks I am crazy for doing so. Therefore, don't expect him to be striking up conversations with other lime green wearers. I will, however, talk to everyone I see wearing it. It looks like half of the DIS board members will be there next week with us so I expect to meet many. I will also have a lgmh taped to my AS Music room window.
Say hello if you see me!

bumping........
I would like to learn more from pampam about the soaking before I work on mine. I was hoping to do that tonight. We leave soon so I hope to get this information soon.
Thanks!

Just got back - Ditto the Mickey paint chip...
I laminated it with my DISboard name and stuck them in the stroller name slot and also to the backpack zipper - along with Lime green bandanas tied to both. I was sure that after 10 days someone would notice me - but nothing. All I got was flack from DH about carrying the backpack with a bandana attached to it.
Going back in November - planning to give it another shot! :thumbsup2

I liked the idea of the business cards! That's so DIS!
I'm going to get those LGMH and put our names on them. My daughters have their own handles, but I don't know if they'll wear it.
We'll be there the first week of October. If you see me, come up and say Hi!

BTW with the soaking of the LGMH, do you write your name on it first and then soak it or what?

On our trip in May, we attached our laminated LGMHs to our backpacks. I must say that I didn't see ONE other green Mickey!! Maybe this trip we will see some!

bumping for soaking info........got my LGMH today and have to figure out what to do with it

I made a few lime green Mickey heads from a punch I have, and I connected some cute beads to them and a little clip. I wore it and hoped I'd catch the attention of DIS'er. Nobody said "hi". I had made a few more and carried them with me to give to other DIS'ers, but it never happened. I didn't do it on my last trip. Maybe I'll try again in a couple of weeks. :cheer2:

I'll look for you! I'd love an artsy mickey head!

This year in July I met Tink.....something I am sorry can't recall now- but she was there with her cute family. We met at the Candy lady spot- it was raining and we were the only 2 standing around waiting. got to talking and then next thing you know- DISERS ! It was funny as I recognized her name as soon as she said it and she remembered my glitter name-and commented that I was always on(he he he.... not all the time...) But I was all over these boards around trip time. Oh and last year I saw a family with the tie-dye shirts everyone was making that year- I didn't say anything- posted when I got home and actually found her here. So when in doubt speak up! Have fun and I wish I were going soon.

bumping...................
I am hoping PAMPAM can give us more soaking details for lgmh. I leave in a few days and I need to get busy with mine.
I would send you a pm, but it doesn't look like I am able to do it.

I would love to know also about soaking them..I tried and mine wilted ! LOL...What did I do wrong? Good thing I got a stack (and plan to grab more). I may just end up cutting around the head.

Wow? You have to soak yours to get them off? My 2 year old held on to them for about 2 minutes in Home Depot and had all of them peeled off, clean as a whistle! He thought they were stickers.
Maybe ours aren't the same up here in Canada, finally a good thing about living in Canada for a DISer!? :rotfl:

Id like to hear more about the head sliding off the card- I didnt think it was possible, as they arent stickers.

Ive been driving around the NW suburbs of Chicago with one on my car back window for a few months now- not even a toot of a horn in recognition, oh well!

I generally see quite a few folks from the DIS while there, especially in early Dec, when a lot of folks from the boards are there. I have a couple lime green things on my hip bag.

I'm from Canada too.
Anyway, it's not complicated. :teacher: Put them in a bowl with some water, walk away, do something check on them, if they don't slide off readily, leave them for a few more minutes. After you take them off, they may curl a little as they dry, but they will be ok. They will be green on both sides, so they are reversable. I then write my name on them, although it really isn't necessary. I mean, who else is going to be walking around with paint chips hanging from their bags, necks, hair, strollers, etc but us dissers? :rotfl: Anyway, after they dry, I write my name on them, laminate them with packing tape :goodvibes punch a hole at the top, and trim the tape from around the edges. Voila! hang them, and then spend a half hour explaining to your traveling companions why you have green paint chips hanging on your camera, wallet, tote bags, etc. :disrocks: :thumbsup2
