Just thinking ahead. If I were to book Aulani through DVC for a cash room, would it be seen as a DVC stay? I'm specifically thinking about needing to pay for parking and if they charge a resort tax separately from TOT. I was looking at the 30% off rooms (which aren't availble when I can go this time) and the pricing seems lower than the going rental rate. Paying for things like parking and resort fees, additional tax would maybe push it over the edge.

When I did it, the reservation showed up on the DVC website and I had to link it to the WDW site.

It doesn’t directly answer your question but I would imagine its treated as a DVC stay. Ask member services when you inquire about the discount, as the discounted rooms are not always available and depends if members have “traded-out” their points from that resort.

and they seem to be unable to match rates...

I don't understand how I can book WDW.com cash rates with a 40% AP discount, but DVC Member Services can't get me a rate at least as good, as a member/owner...

I mean I do understand logically, but emotionally it makes no sense...

I’m not too familiar with Aulani. It might make a difference if you book cash through Disney vs cash through Member Services. Like the DLH Villas when booked through Disney for cash do not include parking costs, but if booked through Member Services then parking is included because you used your membership to book it.

I thought DLH DVC did not include parking even when staying on points? hopefully I am wrong.

It’s not easy to keep track so I’m always going back to check lol

https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/faq/resort-reservations/parking-charges

“Q: Will Disney Vacation Club® Members be charged for parking at a Disneyland® Resort in California hotel?

A: All Members staying at The Villas at Disneyland® Hotel or The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa receive complimentary self-parking for up to two vehicles per reservation when booked through Member Services or online at DisneyVacationClub.com.
  • Members must present a valid photo ID at check-in to receive complimentary self-parking.
  • Members wishing to valet park their vehicle will be charged the standard overnight valet parking charge.
  • Guest of Member reservations must present a valid photo ID at check-in to receive complimentary self-parking.”
Parking is definitely included when points were used to book it.

Less clear is when booked cash via Member Services. I see people saying that also includes parking but can’t find the find print stating that on DVC site.

Because its two different divisions....DVC only offers 25% off DVC villas if they are still available.

We are new to DVC and I did not know this!
I don't suppose you can combine that 25% with other WDW/DL discounts....?

As somebody else answered, yes to free parking. TOT is simply a tax, it would be added to the room price whether you are paying tax or staying on points. In other words, no matter how they "package" the tax you are paying it.
