Cooking recipes needed - school project

Hello.
My DS7 class is learning about "New York State" and the families are asked to participate in a "food's day" coming up soon. I was hoping someone could suggest a few easy recipes popular in New York that I might prepare for this event. It can be anything from casserole type, finger foods, desserts.
I believe many are doing "cheesecake" so maybe something else to keep a variety of foods.

Nathans Famous Franks is from NY so maybe you could make some of their cocktail hot dogs? NY style pizza, Buffalo wings (can be made mild for the young ones). NY is famous for their delis so maybe a bunch of different deli style sandwiches (can be made with cocktail bread so they are small or sliced up to make a few servings. Bagels!

You could have fun with it and make egg creams, Rubens (we make a ruben dip that we put on Rye cocktail bread thats a big hit. ) a bagel platter with different kinds of bagels, assorted cream cheeses , lox. Black & White cookies (we called them half & half cookies) Rugelugh (sp?) Buffalo (as in Buffalo NY where they were created) wings

Thank you all for the great suggestions. I am definitely thinking the Rueben dip with rye. The black and white cookies sound delicious too. I found several good recipes for the cookies on allrecipes.com
