Recipes needed - school project

Hello.
My DS7 class is learning about "New York State" and the families are asked to participate in a "food's day" coming up soon. I was hoping someone could suggest a few easy recipes popular in New York that I might prepare for this event. It can be anything from casserole type, finger foods, desserts.
I believe many are doing "cheesecake" so maybe something else to keep a variety of foods.

This isn't really a recipe - but "Hot Dogs" are totally NY.
If you can get the NATHAN's brand. Boil them. Cooking them any other way will make them taste wrong. Unless you can steam them.

Official state foods
New York State has several "official" state foods. These are voted on/approved by the state's lawmakers in Albany.

State fruit: apple
State beverage: milk
State muffin: apple muffin
