I have a bag of frozen cheese ravoli in my freezer that I was going to use for a new recipe. Of course now I cannot find the recipe! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to use this up? I don't want to do the speghetti sauce thing, been done before. I wanted to try something new.

Any suggestions??

Thanks!

I don't have a recipe but look up one for friend ravioli :thumbsup2. Usually it has some kind of breading on it and is fried (obviously).

Try http://www.allrecipes.com. They have an ingredient search... you can plug in what you want included and what you don't want and it will give you results based on that.

Just be sure to read the reviews before you try something :thumbsup2

Real simple has one that uses frozen ravioli to make a lasagna. It's supposedly one of the most popular recipes that ever appeared in the magazine.

Just google last minute lasagna.

Instead of a tomato sauce how about a butter and sage sauce?

Fpr the lasagna I just use the ravioli- sauce some cheese some meat and then layer it up- like one row ravioli- sauce- cheese- then repeat. Top with cheese.

It's not exactly lasagna but good for a quick one.

One of my quick favorites.

Baked Tortellini

tortellini

dash olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 medium jar tomato pasta sauce
1/2 c. cream
1 teaspoon basil

shredded cheese (I like mozza/cheddar blend)

Cook ravioli according to directions. Quickly toss garlic in oil over high heat, then add sauce, cream, and basil. Heat through, then remove from heat.

Mix tortellini with sauce, and then put into a 9x14 in. pan. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake until the cheese is bubbly. Walla!

It's also good with some cooked chicken and sauted mushrooms thrown in, but they aren't necessary to still taste really, really yummy!

Last month Real Simple magazine had 10 recipes ideas for cheese ravioli - you might want to search their website for ideas. My favorite was:

Ravioli with Peas and Bacon

Directions

1.Cook 16 to 18 ounces of fresh or frozen cheese ravioli according to the package directions, reserving the pasta water as specified.

2.In a large skillet, cook 6 slices bacon until crisp; remove and crumble. Add 2 cloves sliced garlic to the skillet and cook until golden. Add 10 ounces frozen peas and cook until heated through.

3.Mix in the ravioli and ¼ cup reserved pasta water; season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with the bacon and grated cheese.

This sounds really good. I dont know if our ds would actually eat it without sauce, but I think dh and I would enjoy this.

Ooooh thanks for the recipe, mackeysmom! Sounds yummy :)

I put a jar of sauce mixed w/half a jar of water (enough to cover the ravioli) in a large sauce pan, mix some parmesan cheese with ricotta and 'dot' the top with it. Then I dot the top of the ricotta with chopped frozen spinach. Get it to a nice simmer, cover, turn down the heat and cook for about 20mins. It's awesome and my kids can't get enough even though they'd swear on their own lives they hate spinach.

Well, thanks to this thread I now have a "lazy lasagna" in the oven. It smells great!

my mom usually pairs a pomodoro sauce and some sausage with the raviolis. Not quite spaghetti sauce, it's not a true pomodoro. She doesn't smash up or cook the tomatoes to mush, she leaves them almost untouched. Large amount of rosemary and some italian seasoning, garlic. Onions are slivered, not chopped, and she uses bacon grease to saute first. Tosses with the raviolis and then covers with mozzerella and browns the cheese. Definitely not healthy but it tastes yummy.

This is what I was going to say.

This is my something-I-can-throw-together-at-the-last-minute meal in the summer. I just saute the ravioli (I like a little crispness on them) in some butter and olive oil that I've tossed in a few sage leaves and grated in some nutmeg. Grate some cheese over them when they're done. 5 minutes. :goodvibes
