"Recipe" for smooth top stove cleaner?

Anne,
Why don't you pour water directly onto the burner and turn it on to loosen the gunk? Why would you need to use a wet sponge? :rotfl:

Putting the hot wet sponge over the spot allows the steam being released to work anything burned on loose. Leaving the sponge over it keeps the spot warm without making it hot. If you turn a burner on, the area will get too hot to scrub until it's cooled down--which kind of defeats the purpose. I do the same thing in my microwave and it works great.

There nis a product called Greased Lightening that works wonders!!! :cool1:
I bought it at the Home Depot in the cleaning section. It comes in a white spray type bottle with a black white and yellow label.
Just spray it on the cooktop and the dirt and baked on gunk will float to the surface and bubble up. Then I just wipe it all off and it looks brand new.
IMO this stuff works far better than the original little bottle of cleaner that came with the cooktop.

I just tried barkeeper's friend (had some in the house for my stainless sink) and it DOES work, but it takes a lot of elbow grease. I just did two burners and am exausted. I will do the other two after lunch.

i use baking soda and vinegar let it sit awhile so it bubbles all up then it usually comes right off, for harder spots i have to get out the knife and scrape
