I had some salad today at a get together that was made with ramen noodles. It had sunflower seeds too, and probably vinegar. It was delicious, but had no clue who made it or what was in it.
Any one have any idea what this might be?

Thanks.
Cathy

Could it have been this? (I got it here, but failed to list whose it was. )

RAMEN COLE SLAW

1 lb. cole slaw mix
2 pkgs. Ramen noodles (chicken flavored soup), uncooked, crushed
1/2 pkg. shredded carrots
1 cup sliced almonds
1/4 c. sunflower seeds (opt.)
3 green onions, chopped

DRESSING:

1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. peanut oil
1/2 c. cider vinegar
2 seasoning packets from noodles

Mix dressing ingredients. Pour over cole slaw and carrots and onions. Chill this mixture overnight. Toast almonds until slightly browned. Cool. Just before serving add crushed, uncooked Ramen noodles & almonds and sunflower seeds (opt.)

(Also good using Beef Ramen)

I make a similar recipe to this. The dressing is the same, but the ingredients I use are:

bag of Broccoli slaw
toasted slivered almonds
sesamee seeds
scallions
noodles

This is always a hit at a party!!!

Deb,
I think that's it! Thanks so much. It is delicious.
Dyan, yours sounds good too :)

THanks a zillion!

Here's another one that calls for ramen noodles and sunflower seeds:

Sweet and Crunchy Salad

"This is an easy and delicious summer salad. I usually double the recipe for parties. You can also use oriental flavored ramen noodles, if you like." Original recipe yield: 4 to 6 servings.

INGREDIENTS:
2 (3 ounce) packages chicken flavored ramen noodles
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup white sugar
1/3 cup white wine vinegar
1 (16 ounce) package shredded coleslaw mix
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained and sliced
1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup cashews

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Place noodles in a bowl of warm water and soak for 15 minutes or until soft.
Whisk together the oil, sugar, vinegar and seasoning packs.
Drain the noodles and combine in a large bowl with the coleslaw, oranges, water chestnuts, green onions and sunflower seeds.
Pour dressing over salad and toss to coat evenly. Refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours. Add cashews before serving.

Very easy to make!

How funny...I've been eating this every day at work with chicken, for the past 3 weeks. I'm addicted!! I love it, and it's so easy to make. I've started using 1 package of the noodles (fattening) and adding to my coleslaw mixture a mixture of a broccoli-slaw type thing.

As a matter of fact...it's 12:45pm here. TIME FOR LUNCH! :teeth:
