Reception with and Escape wedding

My fiance are trying to plan a lower budget wedding, well as inexpensive as you can get for Disney. We want to book an escape wedding and are looking for a nice restaurant, or any other ideas as to where to have a small, not too expensive reception, for about 25 people afterwards. Any ideas?

The best way to save on a reception dinner after and escape wedding is avoid private rooms b/c most of them will have minimum expenditures, etc. You best bet is to look at a resort resturant that you like that's fairly inexpensive. A buffet would be a great way to accommadate a variety of people on a fixed priced. You could consider 1900 Park Faire (which I've seen some brides on here do) or Chef Mickey's. Ohana is nice for a sit down set price meal. For these places I think you will have to settle for a very early seating (5 or 5:30pm or a really late seating 9:30ish) If I was in your situation, I would personally consider the Luau or the Hoopdeedo Review at Fort Wilderness since food, entertainment and alcohol are included in the price. Also, you can purchase all the tickets together and you have you choice of times.

I think you can totally keep to a reasonable budget Good Luck!!

Oh yeah.... I forgot to mention Whispering Canyon Cafe, they have an all you care to eat option too. I LOOOOOOOOVE the food there. And I think I read recently that someone else had there reception there and it was a really positive experience.

You could also consider DTD: Fulton's (seafood), Portobello's (quasi-Italian but a bit of everything), etc.

Were eating at ohana and as we have 20 people we will be eating at 5 o'clock, Which does'nt bother us because we wanna do MK afterwards anyway. This was the perfect place for us because it's quite relaxed (as in not too posh LOL) and there is a few kids with us, so it will be fun for them. Only you know what your guests will like. Im going for fun, fun, fun for everything because it's our families 1st disney trip

We were the ones who did Whispering Canyon Cafe. They were very accomodating, they did separate us off from the main dining room so that we didn't have the noise and rowdiness you usually associate with WCC, and the food was delicious! For a large group, they do the all-you-can-eat family skillet, which is mainly barbeque type foods. So that means a lot of eating with your fingers! If you don't mind that for your wedding day, though, then it's great.

I found that I actually had an easier time keeping my dress clean since I was eating mostly with my hands. And... we took aprons for DH and myself. We had plenty of time between the ceremony and our wedding luncheon, so we told everyone else to go ahead and change clothes and be comfortable, and most did take advantage and do exactly that. We made the reservation for 25, though I think we had only 22 or 23 in the end. But they had no problem accomodating a group that size.

Oh, and you didn't mention what time of day you are looking at. We did ours at 2:30 in the afternoon - it may be easier to schedule this in the afternoon than in the evening or at night, I don't know. Also, even though we were technically eating at lunchtime, we liked the selection of the dinner skillet a little better, so we asked to do that instead, and they said it was no problem.

Pricewise, if I remember correctly, the prices were around $19 or $20 per person for the lunch skillet, and around $25 or $26 per person for the dinner skillet, plus tax and 18% gratuity, which will be included. That's all you can eat, and includes regular, non-alcoholic beverages, but does not include dessert. We didn't ask how much to include dessert since we were serving our wedding cake instead.
