Hello all! I have recently been exploring the possibility of holding a wishes wedding instead of an escape wedding.
However I still want things to be very simple. My hope is to have a morning ceremony with a lunch or brunch reception. And in a location that will require every little decorations and table enhancements.
I am now overwhelmed looking at all the options there are for reception locations!!
Any suggestions on good reception locations for what I am looking for?
Thanks so much! This is all so overwhelming but exciting!

Since you're thinking of doing lunch or brunch most of the reception restaurants would be available at a lower cost. Since they're already themed you wouldn't have to do much at all to them. Citrico's, Jiko and Narcoossee's for example.
Some of the indoor theme park venues that you could use in the morning you could probably get away with very simple table decorations. Like the Living Seas Salon. People will be distracted by the tank so you could just go with candles or very simple floral.

How big is your wedding? Here are some suggestions:

Attic at boardwalk. Capacity 36. Minimum brunch expenditure $1000. No venue fee

Ariel's at beach club. Capacity 80. Minimum brunch expenditure $1000. No venue fee.

Living seas salon. capacity 20-120. Minimum expenditure for brunch is $2450. $500 venue fee

American adventure parlour. Capacity 20-60. $250 venue fee. Minimum expenditure $1250.

Atlantic dance hall. Can't remember buffet minimums, but they're a lot less than plated. Plated meal is $9600. Venue fee is $500.

Whitehall at the grand Floridian reportedly doesn't need much, but I don't know much about it.

Jiko at animal kingdom lodge. I don't remember specifics.

Hope that helps.

our wishes wedding for ~32 people was at the whitehall room and patio - we had minimal added decor and no decor outside with the “pre-reception” area. it’s a lovely room and an unusual shape, lots of windows. the monorail runs between the buildings which makes for great photo ops (but is not at all noisy or unsightly due to the greenery and sightlines of the room). also a great , easy to get to location with, again, lots of great disney photo locations near by!

our main decor was lanterns which was very reasonable priced, other than that we did the tables and chairs that came included with standard linens and a colored overly as well as the plain covers with a colored sash. i made table markers and we had modest centerpieces. we did no other decor. our buffet/bar area had no additional decor. it was really really lovely especially for a brunch reception! and i think the carpet and wall coverings have been changed again into a more neutral coloring...

You have a point about Whitehall if you don't have a large reception. We only at 10 people at our vow renewal at Whitehall so we used one large table. Aside from the table runner and candles we reused the floral from our ceremony. There is some floral on the cake table, other than that there is no other decor in the room.
I know it's been 8 years but it's good to know at least some venues haven't changed much! We also could see the Castle from that room, we got lucky a hurricane had knocked over a couple of trees that blocked the view! :cutie:

Photo is a bit dark but it gives you the wide view of the room. Looks like the carpet is different now, but you get the basic idea. We did the cocktail hour outside:

That's so pretty! Isn't it funny how weirdly orange the carpet is in our pic - much nicer in yours! Why would anyone pick an orange carpet anyway?!?!

It doesn't seem to go with the theme! Especially since the curtains seem like they're identical don't they? They had that green cabbage rose carpeting throughout the ballrooms in that time period. Which is fitting as it's very Victorian. I love your balloons and lanterns, very festive and happy.
I do have a bigger pic but it was like wooh when I posted it and photobucket was being stupid.

Thanks so much guys! You've actually been listing some of the ones I was considering so good to know I am on the right track.
Ariel's and Whitehall are at the top of my list.
I have not been inside either tho so thanks so much for the pictures!
I think my guest list will be in the 60's, which seems to fit both places well.
I also had the prop shop on my list and am pretty sure I would have to see it to know if I liked it or not as it is so unique and different from my original thoughts.

Do either of you know if you use Whitehall is access to the outside area automatic or do you have to use the area for something like a cocktail hour?

Would 60 be a tight fit at Whitehall? Guess with more tables and no dance floor.
You do have access to the outside patio. I attended another wedding there where they had the buffet set out on the patio (we had a plated dinner) as well as the bar. They had a caricature artist set up out there too. And at the time of our event the patio could be used for smoking.
I should be more cautious, you should always check with your planner. I'm pretty sure you're booked in for both areas, but things always change.
