First of all I just wanted to say how much we wish we were doing a Disney Wedding because some of your planning seems just wonderful, but with all our out of town guests, it wouldn't work.

We are doing our wedding and recption in the Chicago suburb area and I wanted to see what you thought about the cost. We aren't doing the wedding package because of the price, so we are going off there dinner menu and paying for everything else seperately.

For $69 per person we are getting:

Soup
Salad
Entrée (choice of Prime Rib, Salmon or Chicken)
Seasonal Vegetables
Potato or Rice
Wedding Cake
Shorbet
Ice Cream
Sweets buffet
Hors d’oeuvres
Wine Service with dinner
Champagne Toast/Sparkling Grape Juice
3 alcoholic drinks per person (not a large alcohol drinking crowd, $3.50 for beer/wine/mixed & $1.50 for soda)
Gourmet Coffee & Tea Service
All the table settings
Seasonal Fresh Flowers
Complimentary Parking
Bridal Suite Room

So what do you think.

It's hard to say because things are different in different parts of the country... what I can tell you is in Connecticut that price is impossible. In CT you're talking 100-200 bucks a person for all that... with a min of 175 prob.

So from someone in my part of the country, $69 is a deal!

Were doing ours in the Chicago area (suburbs). Were not doing there wedding package because it would have been $95 per person, which includes $25 pp for the bar. They offer a dinner menu that you can go off of and just add the extra stuff you want. We end up paying extra for the ice creme, sorbet, champagne toast, etc but end up saving $25 pp in the end.

I think that sound pretty reasonable for everything you are getting - in Philly its about 85-95 a person and you get your wedding cake as desert!

My fiance and I are considering a cocktail reception (guess that's what it's called) with heavy hor dorves, open bar, and desserts. We really want a cool environment either our aquarium or a restaurant on a ship.

I think thats sounds like a good price, but you could always price shop and ask other places around you. I don't know the average for weddings in your area.

Hope this helps!

:thumbsup2

Yes it does help. I know that without being in Illinois, it's hard to know exactly what a normal wedding reception costs. We already decided on the place because it is really really nice and they have an outside wedding ceremony area that is perfect for what we want. I was just wondering if this matched up to other other people were paying or not.

I'm in Upstate NY and the average runs about $75-100 pp. We found around $50, but not very elegant. This is why we decided on Disney. When first told mom about Disney, she was like "that will cost you a fortune" (we are paying), but after showing her quotes from local banquet places, and comparing it to an intimate wedding, we would save around $5000 ( weare doing a dinner at Yachtsman for 20 pp). We are also getting a better meal and a week full of events, instead of only one day/

That sounds very reasonable. I'm in a Boston suburb, and you couldn't get anything near that in town. Our reception site is about 40 minutes north of boston (only 20 for us), and we're paying a little bit more than that.

Trust me, if it wasn't for all the guests from out of town we would be doing a Disney Wedding.
