Reception at MK?

I have never heard anyone mention that you can, though I really could be wrong. There is Cinderellas Royal Table, Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern, etc but not sure if they allow wedding receptions. Also you wouldn't be able to wear your dress in the park, unless you were having a MK wedding followed by reception at the castle too.
Maybe someone else will come along that has done it.
Would be lovely. I hope there is somewhere for you.

Gosh yes, I heard something about the new MK wedding for $25,000.
$25,000 would soon turn into $50,000 though wouldn't it?
I would have loved to have had my wedding there.

I might be mistaken but i think the 8am wedding is a ceremony only...as far as i know they will not let a wedding party have a receptions at a MK restaurant...

someone correct me if i'm wrong, as i would love to do a vow renewal at one

I think so as the Disney Wedding DVD I received the other day shows a reception at night in the area behind the castle (around the carousel I think). I'm sure it ain't cheap. :)

I know they can have the reception behind the castle... Its absolutely beautiful

Is there anywhere in MK that you can have your reception?

When I was planning my vow renewal towards the end of 2004, I placed a phone call to the FTW folks and asked about the possibility of moving my event over to the Magic Kingdom. I had a couple of sleepless nights as I mulled things over. In the end, I chose to keep it at the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. I honestly didn't think a Magic Kingdom event would have been able to compete with what the FTW folks had already planned for my Disney-MGM Studios event (Handprint Ceremony in courtyard of Great Movie Ride, progressive dinner party inside Great Movie Ride, various Streetmosphere characters coming and going all night long, outdoor dance party beneath Sorcerer's Hat icon, and custom fireworks display over rooftop of Great Movie Ride). My event at the Disney-MGM Studios worked out beautifully and was a night that I will cherish always.

I have seen photos and read the story of a bride who had a Magic Kingdom event several years ago. She was a lawyer and had a lovely way with words, especially in regards to the details. I loved reading about the planning of her event. And just a couple of years ago, I finally got the opportunity to view some of her photos. Her event truly looked lovely. It was held in the area behind the castle and in front of the carousel. She even had arranged for a children's party during her event (the Disney-arranged babysitting worked out beautifully -- the kids had their own mini-party). Believe me, I thought of her event as I considered moving my event to the Magic Kingdom. Knowing how lovely a Magic Kingdom event could be really made things tough on me (but I don’t regret the decision that I made).

If you are serious about having a Magic Kingdom event, you are going to have to place a phone call to the FTW folks to find out if it is possible for your time-frame. The FTW folks have recently changed how they are handling things and only they can tell you what is and what is not possible. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

When I began planning my DFTW the first question I asked was what are my MK options. I was told Disney no longer offers any private events at MK. I was totally bummed because my mom went to a private party in the Haunted Mansion and said it was amazing.

I agree with Janet2K that you should phone Disney weddings as they have very recently changed things and are once again holding weddings in MK, but not sure of any details like receptions. Good luck and hope you get what you're hoping for!

The wedding ceremony in the Magic Kingdom Park is $25,000. This includes the site, set-up and all those items listed on the website. Only the ceremony takes place in the Magic Kingdom and then you have the normal food & beverage minimums for a reception to take place at any of our other locations that are "normally" offered for receptions (not Cinderella's Royal Table since that will already be open for breakfast guests entering form the other side of the Castle Hub area...away from view of the ceremony).

The ceremony takes place at 8:00 a.m. on select dates that need to be approved by the Magic Kingdom. When we have a couple interested in this location, we need to submit the request to the Magic Kingdom for approval so they can check for early park opening days and other events/high attendance days that might block our use.

It has a maximum of 50 guests and takes place at Swan Boat Landing located in the lower section of the Rose Garden. (See attached for view from Swan Boat Landing.)

Since it is an early morning ceremony, you could either head directly to a breakfast/brunch style reception or let everyone go back to their resorts (to take a nap? :)) and gather back together for a dinner reception.

By the way...you may read on the different chat boards today about a wedding that took place in the Magic Kingdom earlier today. This was NOT part of our new Magic Kingdom option. The wedding that took place today was part of the "Year of A Million Dreams" and a contest sponsored by Brides Magazine called the "Dream Team Wedding". This was totally unique event and done especially for Valentine's Day. You may be seeing some coverage of it this week or next week on "Entertainment Tonight" and in the future on the Food Network. The design for the event was from David Tutera who has also designed our Couture line of wedding events.

That was in an email my sm sent me. The 25k is only ceremony and related reception is additional.
