I've been recently diagnosed with celiac and I'm leaving on a trip to the world on Jan 3rd. We currently having dining reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch and dinner, Crystal Palace breakfast, O'hana breakfast, Tusker House breakfast, Le Cellier lunch, Biergarten dinner, 1900 Park Fare dinner, Boma dinner, Turf Club dinner, Olivia's dinner, Whispering Canyon Cafe lunch, and Akershus for the Princess Breakfast. Does anyone have experience with celiac at any of these restaurants? Do I need to call Disney Dining now and add celiac to my dining reservations or can I just tell someone when we check-in at the restaurant? Thanks in advance for all your help!

You should call ahead of time and also remind them when you check into the restaurant, plus mention it to your waiter/waitress.

If you check out the disABILITIES FAQs thread, in post #3, you will find some information, contact information and links to some information about dining at WDW with special diets.

I have celiac and food sensitivities/allergies. The FAQ does list a lot of great info. You need to contact Joan Bennett to get a list of gluten free foods. The chefs may have to buy special stuff for guests as well as well as make sure they have stuff in stock. So call them and tell them your are Gluten free and celiac. There are people who are gluten free because of autism as it is said to help the kids.

The list you presented does not contain any restaurants that I have seen bad reports. There are concerns about San Angel Inn in Epcot because they do not even have gluten free chips. Mission makes GF tortillas and chips so it is not that hard to drive over to Whole Foods Market and get some GF vegan corn chips. Also it is dark and and reporters has said they are not very into the allergen stuff like other restaurants. They also run the restaurants at Coronado Springs which has some unhappy visitors. Yak & Yeti is out of Landry's Restaurants and people have complained about a lack of concern about allergens.

Buffets are idiot magnets and if you do not like them then ask the chef to make you a special plate or you can be served from fresh food from the back that is on the buffet. In San Antonio at a buffet I watch this old man banging away on his wheat tortilla a spoon full of food. I just stood their hovering between wapping the dude and screaming each time he banged on the tortilla and finally told the employee that the pan of food was cross contaminated and could they bring a fresh pan out.

Be warned that someone has a website link to a trip report that is to die for and has awesome pictures from their trip. I had to make a snack trip as I was so hungry.

Waves to Sue. What Sue said is the best advice I could give you.:teacher:
As a celiac I just have to add my two cents and a roll of pennies, lol.

We did Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner and Biergarten for dinner.

Liberty Tree Tavern has a set menu served family-style. What they did for us was to make Justin his own plate. IIRC, the only noticable difference between his stuff and ours was the dinner rolls (Ener-G) and he got his own gravy (I'm guessing corn starch instead of flour, as he had the clear gravy). His gravy looked better than ours. :sad2: It was not the best dinner I've ever had.

Biergarten the chef led me thru the buffet line and pointed out what was okay. Justin doesn't have celiac, but a gluten allergy along with a bunch of other food allergies. They also brought him a basket of rolls. All of the table services seemed to have the rolls.

I hope your trip went well. I'd love to hear about your gluten-free dining experience. My mom has celiac, and I'm always looking for new places to try.
