Recent Wonder cruisers - question about the fridge

I think I remember reading that during the recent room updates, the fridges were swapped out.

Can anyone who recently sailed on the Wonder comment on how cold the new fridges keep things? Are there controls to get it colder?

Thanks in advance!

mine was not cold at all but as we didn't store anything in there it did not matter to us.

Edited: We sailed last week, July 6-13, 2015.

No controls. It was not a refrigerator. We kept cheese in there for two weeks and ate it and were fine...so it might be okay. We sailed in May after the refurb in a new room.

I thought previous threads had indicated that the rooms were all switched from a cooler to a frig- not so?

That's what I thought too. I remember on the Magic it barely cooled anything down and certainly wasn't cold. Oh well, I guess I can ask for ice if I need it.

Again as I said my beer stayed very cold. They are new fridges not the old ice boxes that used to be in there.

Ours kept beer, strawberries and cake with cream all nice and cold. Ours had a dial - we were on deck one OV :) so not an expensive room :)

I had this same question and thought all the coolers were swapped out for refrigerators.

Well having just sailed on the Wonder May 2015 in a refurbished secret verandah 7A cabin #6636, this doesn't appear to be the case for our room.

Our fridge was labeled "beverage cooler"

and looked like this inside

Very different compared to the new refrigerators on the Magic.

no wonder our fridge wasn't cold. i looked into my picture of it from last week. it was labeled "beverage cooler" as well. this is in a 5A room, #7086.

Wonder #6648 earlier this month. Same as on prior cruises.

Keeps things cold but does not make things cold. If that makes sense to you.

So to keep hot sodas, bottled water and wine we bring on board Cool and cold, would I be allowed to pack my collapsible soft sided cooler flat in my checked luggage to keep full of ice? Is there a place to easily get ice? We were just in a resort last weekend that had said rooms had mini fridge but was more like the cooler you describe here, it was barely chill at all inside!

This is disappointing. I thought the Wonder room refurbishing included the new refrigerators and thought posters had indicated such on threads that tracked the progress of the updates as they were done.

DCL has outlawed coolers -- too many of them leaked and ruined the carpets. If you need ice for your "beverage cooler" just ask your stateroom host.

There is an ice bucket in the room. You ask your room host to keep it filled. If you need more, you probably could ask for 2 (or 3) ice buckets.

OP here - we have been back from Alaska for almost a week now. We had cabin 5520 and the fridge kept our pop and water cold enough for us to enjoy. It was cooler than I remember from our Magic cruise. Not sure if we got lucky but wanted to let everyone know. We did get ice each night in our room but didn't need it for in the fridge.
