Recent Wishes FP+

If there is 1 Main Street Electrical Parade at 9pm and Wishes at 10pm and we secure FP for whishes,

1. can we watch the parade from there?
2. How early to they open up the wishes viewing area?

1. The parade can't really be seen from the Wishes FP+ areas.
Only the tops of floats can be seen... and MSEP is designed to be seen from the curb.
Lots of characters and mechanical elements that are very low to the street.

2. Up to 2 hours before Wishes begins.

Can anyone tell me if food and drink are allowed in the area or not? Not planning a picnic lunch or anything, but mostly if I decide to buy a coke right before if I can get in the FP+ area with it. TIA!

Absolutely yes! My children and I got ice cream at The Plaza and were searching for a place to eat them. It was during the first parade so it was insanity. We finally found a spot that turned out to be right at the entrance to the East FP entrance. We decided to just head in and eat our ice cream there. It ended up working out quite well (except for the soupy mess we made when initially trying to find a landing spot).

They will typically open the FP+ viewing area at 8 (YMMV). I will say that it wasn't a terrible place to watch MSEP from. Would I watch it from there if it's your first time seeing the parade or only time seeing it on a trip? Nope. But if you've seen it a bunch of times in your life, it's not bad sitting in the Hub Grass, watching the floats go by.

A. 15 min. before Wishes.

B. As close to either of the Wishes FP areas as you can comfortably find.
(That's because the Hub will be very hard to maneuver through following MSEP.)

Takes up less room that sitting. They can fit more guests into the space.

(More recently, reports are that the CMs don't require EVERYONE to stand, and some
guests sit toward the back (south end) of the spaces and still enjoy a clear view.)

However, we do not know if during busy times like Christmas Week (and others,)
they might issue more FP+ for Wishes, and if so, it might mean that everyone must stand
to fit into the space.

Time will tell (and so will those who are there.)

Is it easy to leave the FP+ area once you're in there to get food and bring it back, or should we get food before we enter? Mom and I may want different snacks so I planned for us to take turns going to get food after initially entering the FP+ area but want to make sure that's allowed.

There can be a crush of guests in the Hub making moving from place to place difficult and slow.
Also, there will be many guests in line to buy food.
The earlier you buy it (and bring it in with you,) the easier it will be.

I feel for the OP. Like the OP, I was at MK today and it was really nice during the day but then the heavens broke lose with far more severe weather than a typical FL summer afternoon/evening storm. We managed to get a spot for Wishes under the train station as most people just left the park but were informed that Wishes was delayed (which is rare). The message was repeated numerous times until about 10:25 when we just called it quits. Seen the show so many times that it just wasn't worth it. If I were to guess, I'd say it was canceled (I have never seen that happen though; they've launched them in drenching rain) not long after. I'd hate to have used an FP+ (prohibiting me from getting a 4th, 5th, etc...) for that.
