Never ate here - at either one. But was going to try them on this trip next month. DD12 and DH LOVE meat and these seemed to offer at lot of it!!! Experiences there and if not recommended - where would you recommend OUTSIDE a park (no passes that day) that is on the dining plan? thanks!

We love Ohana and have eaten there every trip. Most recent in Feb of this year.

DH and I are both meat eaters and this meal fits us wonderfully well. :rotfl2:
The only thing that I recommend is that you ask for your sirloin to be cooked the temp you like it, as it is usually served well. I am a med/rare person, so well is cardboard to me. The server always says "ok" and will bring a special skewer that is done to my likeness.
This whole meal is fabulous though, from the bread and salad to the dessert. (which is best on property IMO).

Now Boma is a different story for us. We ate there once and didn't care for the spices and flavors they use in all dishes. Both DH and I are spicey people, we like things hot, peppery and full of flavor. But Boma uses spices like cinnamon, vanilla and fruit flavors in ALL the dishes. Even the meats are rubbed in them!! For a buffet, we usually can find a couple things even if it is just meat to enjoy. But out of sampling all the dishes we were still left hungry as everything had a sweetness to them. The meats, the potatoes, the veggies...even the soups. Everything was like a holiday dessert.
Needless to say we weren't happy, not that it was bad, just not what we like. So we learned our lession. There is spicey and then there is "spicey"...determine what it is first.
I also learned that there is a beef dish I won't eat....beef with a cinnamon flavor to it!! :scared1::lmao:

Have a great trip!!

Thank you for such a great detailed review!!!! That helps a lot. I am going to take Boma off my list....DD12 is picky eater but loves meat but the spiciness could do her in. Thanks again!

Everyone has different tastes, but we have always loved Boma and the variety of foods served. When we have dined with friends who did not have very adventurous palates, they have always found more than enough to satisfy them.

Now as for Ohanas: my DH calls it Carnivore Heaven!:lmao:

We LOVED Bomas

But didnt care that much for ohanas. I really like salads but didnt taste like there was any flavor? maybe not enough dressing i dont know? Liked the potstickers and the wings though and thats about it. Dont care for plain broccoli or plain noodles. Even the dessert that i read so much about just didnt have any flavor thought it was bland? Maybe a bad night i dont know i would try it again but it just didnt wow me. Atmosphere was nice though, our son 6 had alot of fun there.

yes thats my experience of BOMA's..unless you like cinnamon A LOT don't bother going there. It used to be different but now it all tastes the same as everything has this spice on it.
Never eaten at ohana but thought the food at Artist Point was nice.:)

'Ohana is must do for us every trip. We do both breakfast and dinner. Most trips we have dinner there twice since it's my favorite. I would definitely give it a try.

Trying BOMA this trip for the 1st time.
Ohana - we LOVE. The salad dressing was the best ever when it was the honey-lime but I have heard they changed it. The noodles were GREAT - I know some people don't like them but if you like lo-mein then I think you will like them - even though they are a little different.
I am not a big banana person so I didn't care for dessert but most people RAVE about it.
That's just it - one person may love it and another hate it!
Def get the LapuLapu - drink in a pineapple - best 12.95 i ever spent:banana:

OP you are welcome.

I always try to give a detailed review of any restaurant I speak of. As so many post "it was good, it was terrible, oh never eat here, or you have to have this" type of post. Those can lead you very astray....as I learned. LOL

Reviews are very subject to the individual eating there. So unless you know specifics it is hard to really take any advice.

Have a great trip, and enjoy eating. :flower3:

Haven't eat at Ohana's (love Kona though, and the fact you can order the Ohana bread pudding here for dessert! ;))

As for Boma I was one of the people on here saying how much I hated it our first trip and agreed about the cinnamon taste to the food, but we gave it a second chance this last trip (due to inclement weather and not wanting to leave the resort). It turned out it ended up being one of our favourite meals! The menu varies daily, so some items are on a rotational basis so maybe we got lucky the day we went, but I can't help but recommend it now! It definitely has a lot of variety and this time I didn't find any overpowering cinnamon flavour :thumbsup2

Never been to Boma, but I've been to 'Ohana on the past 5 trips, mostly recently in January of this year. We have been with groups as small as just the 4 members of our family, and as many as 18 in our extended family. We've been fortunate to have wonderful experiences each and every time. It is our traditional 'last night at Disney' meal.

What I like about 'Ohana:
the lapu lapus (see my profile pic)
the dumplings. I could eat just these for my meal and be very happy.
the meat sauces, especially the peanut
the honey lime dressing on the salad
the bread pudding with bananas foster sauce. This may be my favorite dessert in WDW.
the Polynesian decor
the lively, LOUD, fun atmosphere
the entertainer (love her!) and games for the kids
the view of the Wishes fireworks, if you're lucky with timing and seating location
the attentiveness of the 'cousins'
the happy feeling of enjoying dinner and entertainment with my family and friends
