I'll be in Castway Cay in three weeks! Are sea lice (jellyfish eggs) still an issue this time of the year? Should I stock up on the Sea Safe stuff. Thanks!!

Sea Lice season (yes, there is a season) :) is generally from April to August, so mid to late September should be good to go.
I have been to CC within the "season" in April , May, June,( and September) and never had issues with sea lice. On a side note, we are sailing in 3 weeks on Dream too.

We were at CC last Friday and had no issue with sea lice. But, while I was snorkeling I did hear someone say they were being bitten by something in the water. We were a large group and none of us were affected.

We were at CC on August 10 (ish) and we used sea safe just in case. We weren't at the beach for more than a couple of hours but we didn't see/hear anyone having any issues.

What is sea safe?
Do I have to make another shopping trip?! Thanks!

We were at CC last Friday (August 26) and the sea lice were plentiful at pelican plunge. The slides had no line ups because it was so bad. I got a few stings and so did my kids. There was a mad dash for the showers.

My DH and DD were affected at Pelican Plunge when we cruised the first week of Oct. 2014. Posting this as a reference for the October timeframe.

We were also there on Aug 26 at Pelican Plunge and neither of my 2 kids nor our friends' children were affected.

Better to be safe than sorry. We snorkled on our honeymoon in bahamas and I was eat up with sea lice. I literally wanted to get a knife and cut out the areas all over my legs. I have never been so miserable in my entire life.

My family and I were there this past Thursday and myself and my 5 yr old were affected by the Sea Lice. I know a few others were as well as I'd hear them every so often come out of the water saying Ouch. I thought it would have been really bad as far as the sting but it only lasted for like 10 minutes. I've gone to CC mostly in January and have never had an issue.

I was going to say the same thing! We weren't in the water but we were sitting in that area next to the wedding area and we heard a lot of kids crying/complaining and parents trying to figure out what it was. I saw 1 woman give another family something to put on their kids who were hurting.

With that said, in 17 other visits to CC I had never heard or seen anything like that, so maybe this just happened to be a bad time.

We've been to CC 8 times -- May, August, September, October, November and December. We personally have never had a sea lice issue.

We were also there on the 26th. I heard that some people were having issues and were being sprayed with vinegar at the first aid station, but nothing major with us - maybe a few "mosquito bite" type sensations while in the water? Two days later, DD16 said she was itchy and had a few insect bite type bumps on her arms and legs, but nothing that an alcohol wipe didn't solve. Not really sure if it was a Sea Lice affect or not.

Do anything you can to prevent getting stung. I have a terrible case of jellyfish egg rash. Even in our local water in RI. It's been 2 weeks of agony. Not much helps the rash.
I will be purchasing Safe Sea very soon.
