Recent Trip thoughts and comments on the Poly

Has anyone stayed on a non lake view? Does the ferry horn sound more muffled because you don't have a direct view?
I stayed on the 3rd floor of Pago Pago facing the garden 1-3 Apr. I didn't notice the ferry horn.

We just returned from a 3 night visit and stayed in Tokelau. We could barely hear the ferry horns...nothing that would have woken us up. Also, I slept on the Murphy bed just to try it out...I'm 5'2" and found it very comfortable. We loved the room and resort! We are very happy with our little PVB add-on contract! I agree with the idea of a separate category for the parking lot Pago Pago rooms. I think that makes perfect sense!

I wish that there were one bedrooms at Poly so we could try it out. We don't want to spend so many points for a bungalow for just the 2 of us but we don't want a studio either. I can understand that Disney believes studios are the most used room size but it would have been nice to have a few 1 bedrooms available.

We just got back from a few days at the Poly and would agree the construction doesn't look top notch. We had some water damage in part of the bathroom and the place was just missing something. We did have a 3rd floor water view room which was nice but not 32 points nice. The ferry horn is loud and annoying and we had a great view of the transportation and ticket center. In my opinion ithe Poly could have been designed so much better. 2 bathrooms could have easily had two toilets or a washer and could have been added. The room is there. The hallways don't look that great and it is no where near being on par with the Grand Floridian.

The DVC buildings should have been torn down and built from scratch but they took the cheap way out and it shows.

We are also just back and feel they need to do a point reassignment sooner than later. We were in a "lake view" -assigned a first floor handicapped ( not requested ) unit (I believe 1024 ) and could see nothing but slices of water between the Bungalows. When I made the reservation( the day they opened) I requested high floor and when we did online check in also requested high floor. We are local and arrived to meet friends early about 9:00 a.m. We got the room ready text close to 4:00 and we did ask to be moved and were told there was nothing else.
I would like to say that we have been members a long time and while I understand the "requests are just requests" philosophy ,this was really a stretch calling it a lake view.
I have 2 more night there in a couple of weeks for my Birthday and am seriously considering switching resorts or canceling. It is a lot of points to look at the bungalows if not assigned a high floor and while we thought the location was awesome I'm not sure I'm willing to take the risk again. We love the poly and always eat at Ohana and Kona so we were thinking this would be the first of many, many stays there. We were laughing that it was like when we stayed at Aulani in the very early stages and had an "ocean view" that overlooked the neighboring hotels parking garage and tennis court with the ocean in the distance. I think in the future if we were to book the Poly it definitely won't be a water view.
Ironically our friends have an infant and requested ground floor for their 2 week stay and were assigned third floor!
On a side note I will add that we did hear the Ferry horns starting around 6:00 a.m.

Good to know...My wife wanted a lake view for our upcoming trip just to see the water parade. I will have to request a higher floor.

We were 3rd floor lake view in early May. From what I remember, the water parade was partially obstructed. You may need to go to the beach or stay in a bungalow to have an unobstructed view of the parade.
The view of the fireworks was great from our room.

I agree with others regarding the ferry horn. I believe some rooms had poor workmanship when it came to the sound proofing. All it takes is one worker to not do their job on a given day and it can impact several rooms.

I have to agree with you regarding the online check-in. I really liked the convenience of it, but we all agreed we missed the personal touch of the "Welcome home".

You could move abroad. MB are not shipped to international visitors so we have to check in as usual. :(
