Some background info:
We were at Disney 12/8-12/17. We were only on the DDP as a DVC stay add on for 5 nights.
We were a party of 16 and 12 of us were in a Grand Villa, so the Grand Villa 12.... all of our credits were pooled together.
Now our experience is different, as having a big party size, it took a LONG LONG time to have a table service dinner. We had ADR's for all of our TS and we still waited 15 minutes to an HOUR for our table. Looking back we would have done more buffet eating as that was the easiest and the fastest meals.
In our big party we were in the Grand Villa and have a family of 4.
DH and me
DD - 9 - She loves more of the adult menu then children's menu.
DS - 5 - He is a VERY picky eater -happy with nuggets & fries EVERY meal
**There were 3 seperate families in the GV and it ended up not being very hard to keep track of what we got. At the end of the day we would check our totals and we always ended up being on track.
Counter Service - I would have to say we rarely ordered a kids meal - the choices were HORRIBLE. We never had a problem ordering 3 adult meals and sharing - most likely as our card said 9 adults and 3 children. **This was not to "milk" the system or pay OOP for the kids, they just hardly offered anything either one of my children would eat. When they did, they ordered from the kids menu. IMO, Disney needs to offer more choices for kids.
I won't go into all the places we ate at - for sure we were chicken fingered out at the end of the week.
Table Service - My dd always ordered from the kids menu, my ds did not. I would let him eat an uncrustable. He did not share from my plate, he didn;t like the kids OR adult choices. Again, I wished we had done more buffet ts, as he loved the one we did.
Snacks - We ended up using the majority of ours at the gift shop for bfast items or candy to take home.
Table Service:
Liberty Tree Tavern - This is a favorite of many of our extended family - my family of four does not care for it. We paid for my son and he only ate a roll, but I didn't mind as he loved the characters . My husband wasn't feeling great and they did not make him pay as he did not eat.
Prime Time Cafe - This meal took forever - we waited for over an hour even with ADR to be seated. Our server was GREAT, but the food was very slow in coming out. Food was just okay, and we were too full to even eat our dessert. My son did not eat here, he ate his Uncrustable.
Japan - My husband went and ate here with a few others and used his LTT credit
1900 Park Fare - BEST MEAL for a big party - I guess we timed our arrival right - we were seated within 10 minutes. All of us enjoyed this. AND, they had Uncrustables!!!
Wolfgang's Cafe - Oh we were SO dissapointed with this place. We won't be back. My son AGAIN did not eat here.
Alfredo's - Candlelight Package - This meal was just okay. We all ordered - my son did not eat one thing. Whoever heard of RED mashed potatoes for kids???
Sci Fi - We had 2 children's credits left - We took the kids to Sci FI and let them eat - my son did not eat his food, so I ate his.
When we came off the dining plan - we were staying at AKL for 2 nights. We had several snack and CS credits left. We were able to go to Mara's and stock up sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, chips and drinks with our credits. Our fridge was packed and the next day we just sat at the pool and ate from our fridge. That really worked out as I have no idea what we would have done with all of those left over credits. When we called in to OKW desk to check our leftover snack credits we had like 35 to use that day.
Last Thoughts - The DDP cost our family $489 for the 5 nights, which we spread the food over 6 days (7 if you count the sandwiches at AKL).
So, for sure money wise it was a good deal for us. But, we were sure tired of eating, we did not use our Boma ADR that weekend at AKL as we just did not want to eat ANOTHER big meal!
Sure their is more "value" getting the app, entree, des. at the TS, but I think I would have rather done the buffet's more.
Feel free to ask any questions!!
