Recent Treasure Sailings - did you have Coriander or just Sage?

I'm sailing on the Treasure in a couple weeks, and I've been watching recent videos very carefully, as I know they've just moved on to the second cast after the inaugural cast. One of the things I'm most looking forward to is seeing Sage & Coriander, as they've been pretty much universally praised, and i was worried the new duo may not be as good.

But then I found this video:

And I was surprised to see that ONLY Sage (the new Sage, I guess) came out to do the Sail Away greeting. I asked the poster in the comments about it and she confirmed that there was NO Coriander on her April sailing.

Does anyone have info on this? I REALLY hope this isn't a permanent change, this is one of the things I was most excited about.

Not a permanent change.

We had coriander and sage on our 3/22 sailing and I believe that was the first sailing with the performer crew change over.

We sailed with them in February and I knew when their time to take a break came it would be very hard to replace them. They were an amazing team. they played off of each other so well.

Sage was missing for our sailing, 2/22-3/1, due to illness. Both had appeared for the Sailaway Party; however, after that, Sage wasn't seen again. Any sets with Coriander and Sage, such as the Aladdin Retelling, had been cancelled. For those more popular entertainment options, the Jungle Cruise Adventure and Indiana Jones Choose Wisely!, other entertainment crew members filled in for Sage's role.

Occasionally, crew members will be unable to perform for various reasons, and they go into B-Mode. Our sailing got hit hard with a bug that was going around with the crew, Abuelita/Imelda was missing from the Coco stage show for example (our server mentioned she wasn't even on the ship).

Entertainment is always subject to change, but all crew members will try their hardest to make sure the impact is minimal and that you still have a magical time!

On the 4/5 sailing it was just Sage. They didn’t do the Aladdin retelling. Different cast joined Sage for the jungle cruise and Indiana Jones’s activities/shows. Pretty disappointing.

Oh wow, I was on the 3/1 sailing and Sage was back and Abuelita/Imelda was still missing.

They were definitely on the struggle bus during our sailing, not sure if it was logistics since it was only the 10th sailing or a bug going around. Jasmine briefly disappeared; she was replaced by Belle during the Adventure Royal Tea, but then showed up later for the Treasure Found closing show. The crew did an amazing job adapting, though, and you wouldn't even know things were missing if we didn't watch other people's sailings beforehand!

They were a little slow on pulling the Sage and Coriander bits from the Navigator, so that was the only frustration, because a bunch of us gathered in the Grand Hall, and then they made an announcement 15 minutes past the start time that only Coriander was coming out for a casual meet and greet. On the bright side, I got a super cool photo with her, and she let me hold the Atlantis Shepherd's Journal.

Anyone sailing now or very recently who can say if they're both back now..? I was also really looking forward to their skits and want to temper my expectations for our sailing.

I decided to go full Sherlock Homes mode on this whole thing. I would share the links I found, but DisBoards isn't liking the post if I include the links, so here's the summary.
  • I found several photos/videos from the actress that was supposed to be playing the Cast 2 Coriander, in her first Sail Away debut, alongside the new Sage actor performing on the 3/22 sailing
    • Other folks I found from this cast alluded to this being a 6-month contract for the entertainment staff.
  • But then, I asked the poster of the original video I shared what their sale date was, and they said that was from the 3/29 sail date and there was no Coriander on that cruise at all.
  • And then, I found a recent video from the 4/5 sailing and it shows again only Sage, no Coriander at Sail Away. Based on what the commenter above said, there was again no Coriander for the whole cruise and the Aladdin retelling cancelled.
...and that's where the trail runs cold. I haven't seen anything uploaded from the 4/12 sailing yet, probably because they don't disembark until tomorrow AND because the Disney Destiny preview event was this week, so all the influencer types likely weren't on this week's sailing. Weirdly, I'm not even finding a FB group for the April 12th sailing.

But 2 weeks out seems awfully long for just an illness. I wonder if there was some sort of injury and Disney's working on replacing her.

I was on the March 22-29 sailing with the new Sage & Coriander. On the last (or next to last) day I saw Coriander (not in costume --- just on the ship) with a cast/boot on her ankle. The "closing ceremony" the last night was just Sage.

Who are Coriander and Sage?
They are the two new "treasure seeker" characters that are exclusive to the Treasure, who lead much of the entertainment. The two from the inaugural cast were largely praised as one of the absolute highlights of the ship.

And there it is, just what I was thinking. I hope Disney is able to get a replacement onboard soon, and of course, that the actress is able to return to cruising once she's recovered.

If there's anyone on the 4/12 sailing hanging around - please comment with your experience.

I also just saw that the folks behind the DCL Duo Podcast (which, incidentally, is my favorite Disney Cruise line podcast - they're really excellent) were posting from the Treasure this week and so I messaged them on Instagram, and they confirmed that once again for the 4/12 sailing, it's just Sage, no Coriander, and the Aladdin Retelling was once again cancelled.

It's not that simple on the ship - unless the inaugural actress is available to come on. The entertainment team is trained as a unit and while there are a few swings in the cast, it's not like a Broadway or touring production where there are multiple swings and in the case of some roles strict stand-bys whose job it literally is to be either backstage or within a certain range of the theater with cell phone on in case something happens to a primary character mid-show. (I know for example when Billy Elliot was playing, there were at least 4 Billys in the cast and at least 3 of them were scheduled for every show - the one scheduled to be on stage, one who was required to stay in the theater, and the other could stay but had to be within a 4-block range and with cell phone on. Elphaba usually works similarly on Broadway though they may only have 2 scheduled.)

Sure but this will have been a month as of our sailing 4/25… surely they could have someone as a replacement now?

Exactly - and keep in mind this injury happened on the new cast's DEBUT SAILING. I can't imagine that Disney plans to give six months worth of Treasure guests a sub-par experience, especially when there's still so much buzz about the ship. If it's was only a few weeks until that cast left, maybe that makes sense, but in this case, it really seems like a replacement is warranted.

This thread is going too far. People stalking performers' Instagram stories and pages (public, I know). The assumptions and guesses about what is going on. Everyone relax. This isn't information that we are all privy to, and that is okay. I am sure the ship/company is working on a solution, but in the meantime. Let's not go crazy here. These are humans, this is a job, your cruise will still go on.

This may cause them to re-examine how they do the entertainment, but as it is now, that would require hiring someone and paying them to stay at home and not audition for any other jobs on the off-chance that an injury happens.

Given that this is part of a duo, currently to hire someone they would either have to take the other performer away to ensure that the chemistry is there or hire TWO new performers and put the uninjured one out of a job.

AMEN! It's not like it's Elsa in Frozen, Rapunzel in Tangled, etc.
