I am ending my breast cancer chemo treatments :cool1: and my daughter's Godmother is taking us to disneyworld for a "girls" weekend. It will be me, my dear friend and my 9 year old daughter. We are seriously looking at booking the Wilderness Lodge and the concierge floor if we can. I have stayed at all the other deluxe and many of the value resorts at disney since I live so close, but never the Wilderness lodge.

Questions: How do you like the hotel? Is the concierge comparable to the others?

One of the main concerns is to ensure that we get two gueen beds and not a queen and a bunk since both me and my friend are tallish and won't want to share a bed or sleep on a bunk. My daughter and I can easily share a queen.
Do they guarantee bed types?

We are planning on a mid-may weekend. Any comments about possible crowds? This is a time of year I have never been to WDW!
I am SO excited! The other option is the Beach Club (non-concierge).

Thanks!

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge this December-concierge level- and loved it! They were extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the snacks, and drinks every evening and several times throughout the day. We had 2 queen beds, we had not requested anything specific.
Of our four trips this year (very unusual circumstances!) May was my favorite all around, but we didn't do the weekend. The crowds were great, weather was beautiful.
I can't compare it to other resorts, but I loved that the Wilderness Lodge is very compact. The boat ride to Magic Kingdom was another favorite.
Prayers and Pixie Dust for your treatments.

I don't know if this is "recent" enough for you, but we stayed concierge last April, third week. A Thursday thru a Sunday. It was not crowded. The food offerings were sufficient, tho I enjoyed the ones at the GF more. The CMs we ran into were so friendly at the WL, but I've since read on the Dis that the one we liked the best has moved to another deluxe resort.
I, like a poster above, just love the "coziness" of the WL, and am planning two more visits there this year, but not concierge.

I've stayed in the concierge level of WL for both trips and while I can't compare it, I can reccomend it.

It's very handy to have full-selections of yummy breakfast items and drinks to take down to the bus stop to munch on while waiting. The Wilderness lodge is so cozy and eveyone on the concierge level is soooo friendly.

The snacks that are avaliable in the afternoon are great too. Endless supplies of soft drinks and water and crackers, cookies, latte and cappucino maker, choc and regular milk, juice, lemonaide, fruit, gummy worms, pretzals, ect.

At they offer a hot snack that can pass for dinner in the evening, and if you get back in time, you can get yummy desserts to eat before bed! If you don't plan on bringing your own food, the concierge's snacks are perfect for saving money on snacks in the parks. :thumbsup2

Also, the secluded feel of being on floor 7 with the TV and dining areas in the lounge corridors are really "homey" places to come back from the park, sit back and relax with a snack without being restricted to your hotel room.

I love the Wilderness Lodge, the only downside is that there's no monorail service to it. but the bus and boat does the job just fine.

We've never stayed club level but so love the resort! It has such a wonderful, warm and homey feeling to it and the fact that you can take a nice short boat ride to MK is just icing on the cake. I believe all of the standard rooms have two queens and you have to request the rooms that have a king or the bunk beds in them. I do think that I'd still request two queens just to have it notated in your ressie.

We are going Mid-May too and have heard that it shouldn't be unbearable or 'Holiday' crowded. Most Spring Breaks are over by that time and most schools are still in session.

WL is really great! Enjoy!
