We haven't been to DL in a few years and now the kids are old enough to take friends along. DH and I will be taking dd and her friend and ds and his friend so we can't stay at a disney hotel since there are 6 of us.

We always stayed at DLH except for once at HoJo and maybe twice at BWPPI and thought it was okay so I booked BWPPI but have to change dates and there are no minisuites for the time we need to switch to so I found Park Vu has 2 connecting queen rooms for less than the minisuite. We are staying 5 nights in just a few weeks, kind of last minute "dd begged and dh said yes" trip.

I "think" each room has 2 queen beds, not clear on the website, so I was going to call and ask and book plus the bonus of 2 bathrooms and more space but read a recent (May 19th) review on tripadvisor with photos of bed bug bites!

Almost all the other reviews are good to great, rave about the hot breakfast with real bacon and eggs and make your own waffles and each room gets a fruit basket at check in so we were convinced until I saw the bedbug review and now don't know what to do!

Has anyone stayed recently? I can't imagine that no one else posted about bed bugs since May if they really have them. I would be so afraid to take a chance of bringing them home or getting there and not having a place to stay if it turns out to be true.

The boys are 15 so I plan on letting them go on their own but for my piece of mind, I must be right at the cross walk. Tropicana is booked and so is Carousel as well as BWPPI. HoJo is too far for me to let them walk at night and the rooms only hold 5 too except the one suite which is booked which is what led me to Park Vu.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I haven't been in the past few months but have been about 10 months ago. We love Park Vue and it's our #1 choice. Are you getting a discount rate for them somewhere? If so can you share the source?

We stayed at the Park Vue last November, and it was very clean.

TripAdvisor always has some nattering nabobs of negativity. :earsboy:

Thanks, so what did you think of her review about the bedbugs? She stayed in October I think but posted the review in May after fighting with them for months. Who does that?!

I have not found any discount other than AAA. The two queen connecting rate says: Non-Smoking, Two Queens, Connecting Includes Microwave, Refrigerator, Coffee/Tea Maker, Hair Dryer, Iron and Ironing Board. AAA, AARP, MIL, Govt Only the first night's rate is displayed, click details to view daily rates. 121.00 605.00 for our 5 nights plus tax.

I called and asked them some questions before booking and they never said that was for EACH room so I guess I was wrong and it was too good a deal!

Now ds's friend just cancelled so we can stay at one of the Disney hotels but oh gosh, that is so hard after thinking of all the space we were going to have-lol!

GH is awful because you can't book certain beds and one kid is sure to end up with a sleeping bag! DLH is tough because of the construction and PP is too far a walk so which one? With the stay 3 and get 2 free promotion, it is affordable for us but still, I like LOTS of room....

hi just reading your post- so they want $121 for each room? And each room has 2 queens, or 1 queen? Sounds confusing too me too... i stayed there in April- didnt have bugs- but there was a smell. the room I had wasnt very big- the pic make it appear bigger. if you can afford it- go with a resort hotel. :lovestruc

tinks, very tricky I think! Yes, that is the price for each room and even though it says connecting queen, you have to book another connecting queen and on the phone, they said there are 2 queens in each room. I think it is pricey for that hotel and I guess that is why it is still open when most of the others are booked for our dates.

At, $1400 for 5 nights, this is almost the same staying at the resort hotels but you get 2 bathrooms, a lot more space, more beds, hot breakfast and in most cases, a shorter walk. DH doesn't want to stay there and since one kid cancelled, we have a lot more choices as a group of 5 vs. 6.

He doesn't really like Disneyland (can you believe it?!) so I guess the hotel is an important part for him to just lounge around and enjoy the pools, etc..so he wants to stay at the resort hotels. I want to stay cheap and do lots of extras like expensive dinners (goofys is now $200 for 5!), riverside seating for fantasmic, etc....He wants cocktail service at the pool.

He had no qualms about the bed bug issue and thinks more people would have posted if it was true either here or trip advisor.

Well if I was trying to get resolution from the hotel I would wait to post a review on trip advisor. If the issue was solved to my satisfaction I wouldn't say anything but if it was not I would.....I wouldn't make anything up but I would report it.

That said, does the HoJo have any family suites available? Because I would chose the HoJo over the Park Vu any day. :)

Yes, pixiewings, I can see the point but I would post right away about bedbugs to warn others no matter what the hotel did for me if I really believed we got the bites there.

We thought HoJo was just fine but the walk is long to me. The walk there is fine but the walk home at midnight seems really long. The people there are great and the rooms are nice and have a good amount of space. Plenty of room for a rollaway and still get around nicely. We always had a park view room and it was fine. I don't think I'd let my 15 year old walk back and forth there alone at night though.

I just booked the Grand so Dh is happy and Costco had the same pricing as Disney but gives us all character meals and a small gift card too so at least I feel like we got somewhat of a deal with the stay 3, get 2 free. I will be fine if ds wants to sleep in and join us at the park since it is so close or if he wants to go back to the room alone, don't you think?

Now all I have to do is hope for one of the rare, elusive 2 queens with daybed rooms or someone is going to have to sleep on the floor! That's crazy but after I talked to DH about getting our "usual" room in the Dreams tower, high floor, park view with 2 queens and the daybed (plus free rollaway!) she said it was a big NO! Since the remodel, all the high floor rooms have been turned into suites so we would never get that view, we would have the pool view instead so what is the point? She also said we could well end up in the old Bonita tower by the waterfall even in the midst of construction because they work on half and keep half open. No way would I want to chance construction but someone will end up there, it just won't be me this time.

We have stayed here many, many times. I have never seen bed bugs, or I never would have returned. The location is the biggest draw to the Park Vue Inn. It is an older hotel. The rooms have always been clean and the staff very nice. However, we have not received a fruit basket at every stay. Only twice at about 30 stays. We have also never seen bacon, waffles or eggs at breakfast. The usual breakfast includes fruit, donuts, cereal (cold and hot), toast, and sometimes yogurt. The beverages are coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juices and milk. We always pick the hotel for value, so we have more $$$'s to spend in the park. Currently HoJo's and Priceline have been my hotels of choice.:tink:

We love Park Vue. We stayed there last December, and again in April because of our great experience in December. No problems, no bedbugs for sure!

Both of those times they had omelets, bacon, and make them yourself waffles, among many, many other items for breakfast. That's a big part of the reason why we stay there.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Thanks for posting heather and tinkcollector. I feel kind of bad even bringing up that review but hopefully others will see your posts and know that it is okay to stay there. I hope too that they will call and ask about what rooms they are booking since I was so silly to think we were getting 2 rooms-lol.

I think the breakfast changes are new from what I read which is why you never saw the hot foods tink. They just started Spring I think. I agree with you that I would rather spend my money on fun things and good food, not the hotel but at least Dh agreed to go so if the Grand makes him happy, I can live with it and it won't really stop us from doing other things since the rate better with the 2 free nights.

I am excited now! I am thrilled that dd gets to bring a friend. 10 year old girls are too cute in Disneyland. Ds is okay with his friend not coming because he'll just ride with DH.

I want to say I don't use trip advisor anymore. There are too many I love it or hate it ratings. I think most of these are fake at that. Even trip advisor has admited this is a problem and tries to regulate. No kidding I had a friend that worked at a hotel and she had to post terrible reviews for the other hotels on the street.

As a PP said one person claiming bed bugs does not make it true. If there was a problem it would be obvious.

You are so right skiingfast! That is why I came here, I trust these boards. I have been a member for a long time and have always found the info here so helpful. Heck, that is why I came over here to ask when I was booking.
