I am looking for recent reviews on San Angel Inn please. I have justed changed our ADR from Tony's Town Square to San Angel Inn for our upcoming April 08 trip. Any reviews would be greatly appreciated as we have never eaten here.:)

We've eaten there each of our last three trips. We loved it the first time, 2004, liked it the second time, 2005, eh, the last time in 2007. We will likely skip it this year.

The food was tasty, the appetizers were bad and the food was luke warm at most.

Its very wierd, I honestly think this place was severely impacted by the dining plan. The appetizer selection was very good a couple years ago, bow its just eh. The tortilla chips are out of a bag where they used to be freshly fried and hot.

It is no longer a must do for us, but we will pop in because I love the scenery inside.

Hope this helps!

ETA: DH still likes it alot! but what does he know anyway.

We were there in December. Not good at all. Food was okay, but not great. Service was very bad as they have crowded in way too many tables and the servers could not keep up. No beverage refills - asked several times- we were going to have dessert, but after sitting at least 15 minutes after finishing, waiter came up with check and said here and put it down. Not on dining plan. Tables are so packed in now, you cannot move.
This was one of the few truly bad meal experiences we have had at Disney.

We ate there in Dec. and it was just fair. I had the plato mexicano and have certainly had better. I did not think they needed to have a steak on this menu item. The steak was also just fair. We had not tried San Angel, but now we have and will make different choices on any upcoming trip.
Also, they only had fruit flavored tea, which is a big strike against any restaurant as far as I'm concerned.

i know we are in the minority:rolleyes1 , but we enjoyed SAI!
food, atmosphere, & service were all very good! (btw, some feel SAI is not "authentic", but i've been to mexico repeatedly & found it darn close).
the restaurant does get very crowded, & is probably one of the darkest restaurants in all of WDW, but definately worth at least one visit (btw, we enjoyed SAI much more than any of our visits to le cellier ~ service was excellent at both, but we found the food at LC more "average", and the atmosphere interesting, but certainly not on par with SAI).
hth :)

We've tried it three times over the last 10 years. We were lured in by the wonderful smells, however, I was somewhat disappointed the first time and very diappointed the other two times. The service was bad all three times, the food was so-so to just plain bad the last time. I know alot of people love it, but we didn't care for it at all and won't be going back - 3 strikes and all.

I had planned to eat here this fall, may have to reconsider.

we have an ADR for SAI in august, i have heard very mixed reviews, mostly great atomsphere, and not so good food. well i can try it once, and if we don't like it skip it the following trips

My thought it this. There are so many wonderful places to eat, why go someplace notorius for questionable food and bad service. You can visit the pavillion for the atomsphere. But dine someplace great.

We were very disappointed when we ate there last month. Which was sad, because it used to be one of the restaurants we loved eating at. We had even recommended it to several other people.

To start off, they no longer have unsweetened tea. Not that what they had was very good. I don't think they brewed it before, but at least they offered unsweetened. Now, they only have sweet tea.

What people have mentioned about the chips and salsa is correct. The chips are Tostitos. Infact, they sell the bags of them right outside the restaurant. Pretty sad that a restaurant that is supposed to be from Mexico City is serving bagged chips instead of fresh ones. Granted a lot of restaurants in Mexico don't even serve chips, but those that do, typically make them fresh. The salsa tastes like bottled salsa too.

Our appetizers were good... we probably should have stopped with those. Sopa Azteca and Cerviche are great!!

The entrees were very disappointing. I ordered a chef's special that was supposed to be slow cooked beef with a sauce. The meat came out cold. (not even a little warm). I showed it to the waiter, and he took it back and they just put more sauce on it. It was warmer, but then it was drowned in sauce.

My DH and DD both had carne asada (steak) dishes. The steak was charred and unseasoned.

The rice pudding and flan are still good there.

We were soo disappointed that my DS sent a letter to Disney letting them know how disappointing the food was there.

It is really too bad. The restaurant is gorgeous!!! But they have really gone down hill the last few years with food quality. They are no longer on our list of favorites. Infact, I made all my ADRs for our July trip, and they are not on the list.

I hope that Disney figures out everyone is disappointed and makes some changes there quickly. I think the main reason people are packing the restaurant now is that they love the atmosphere, and maybe after a few margaritas you don't realize how bad the food is.

Minority poster here too. Ate there in October and enjoyed it. I hadn't tried it before so I had no expectations of it. Had great service too.

You said you switched from Tony's at MK, now that's another place for bad reviews!! Haven't eaten there but I am figuring from the way it usually works out I would love it!!

We were there last June. Food was so so and the service was HORRIBLE. I was furious by the time we left because the service was SOOOO slow and our server was MIA most of the time. The atmosphere was awesome, but was totally ruined by the lack of service and mediocre food.

Great Margaritas! Poor food quality

Save yourself a bunch of money and get a margarita at the stand outside

Thank you for the reviews I enjoy getting as many opinions as possible regarding places I have not eaten at before.Keep the reviews coming please!:)

My thought it this. There are so many wonderful places to eat, why go someplace notorius for questionable food and bad service.

unfortunately, we avoided SAI for so many years b/c of some bad reviews here. lesson learned: try every restaurant for yourself at least once. (btw, we always alternate a new restaurant with a "tried & true", so there is less likelihood of two unsatisfactory meals in a row).
hth :)

We always enjoy it. We were just there again the last week of Jan. I always order the Filete Montelno(spelling?) It is a wonderful beef tenderloin dish with black beans, cheese, and fried plantains. It is very good. My only wish is that they made their own tortilla chips, I really don't care for the store made ones that they serve before your meal. But, with that aside, we really enjoy it there!
