Recent reports on the "Jello Issue"??

I know in a previous post I read that this would be addressed at a Disney meeting in March sometime...is there any news from recent visitors on whether substitutions are being allowed? If so what type of substitution? We leave in a few days, and was just hoping for a heads up...I m one of those parents who doesn't allow kids to have artificial sweetners.

I know at Disneyland, even though it may not be mentioned on the menu French Fries are always allowed a substitution for kids meals. I would assume WDW would be the same way.

We just got back on March 24 and we had the DDP for my son (4)--he didn't have to order JELLO once! They always let us substitute, he mostly chose choc. cake and once he picked some frozen lemonade. Never a problem, my husband just always asked. Guess we were lucky!

That's really good news! We go in May, and my DD5 wouldn't touch jello for anything! If you don't mind me asking, where did you eat? Did you just ask if you could substitute another dessert or what? THANKS!!

We ate at a fairly large plave at MK (Can't remember the name--sorry)---my husband always ordered and I always sat with the kids at a table, but I always just told him to ask and he always came back with something else. There is one pizza place that didnt' even have pizza on the kids menu, and my son got pizza too!! Everyone was super nice! I think it was in the AK. (Pizzafari??) I had planned all of my TS and remember all of their names, however we just picked someplace close to eat at lunchtime for our CS. One place near the Haunted Mansion Ride at MK did try to have him take the JELLO--but we just nicely said "Oh really, he was able to substitute his desserts all week with no problem." Then he said OK. My son wouldn't eat JELLO! I figured the worst think would be I would share my dessert or give it to him. Good Luck and have fun! We already want to go back and we just got back a few weeks ago!!

Thanks, sdrsdd! I am willing to share or buy another dessert for DD, but it would be nice to not have to do that. It looks like we'll be able to get her what she likes most of the time.

And folks should recognize that the cashiers often are a lot more generous than the rules (and perhaps than they should be ), so be nice to them, they might be nice to you.

I hope we're as lucky in Sept! DS can't have most flavors of Jello because of sensitivity to food dyes, so I was eyeing those kids' menus with Jello listed as the only dessert option with some trepidation. Its good to know that there are alternatives available.

I totally agree. It kills me when someone chooses to be rude or ignorant to try and get their way. Why would a CM want to be nice to you if you are a jerk. Much better to be nice, you will get further.

Most of the kids meals are disgusting enough. Chicken fingers, mac and cheese, chicken fingers, mac and cheese, those are your four choices. The sugar free jello is just an insult to injury.
I can't wait to explain to my 9 year old why she can't get anything but chicken fingers and mac and cheese at a french restaurant. "But honey, it's in FRENCH on the menu!"
I know a few people that have some pretty ugly reactions to artificial sweeteners. How do they handle those kids?

Good to hear reports of substitutions, I m hopeful but also know that sugar free jello won't ruin our vacation, I ll simply share or purchase something else if necessary.

And in Le Cellier, although it's not a French restaurant, there are SIX entree choices for children 3-9; again, none of those is mac & cheese.
