Have any of our recent Mexico Cruisers tried the Krystal Resort in Puerto Vallerta? I'm thinking it might make a nice beach day on our 7/9 trip (we have a 2 yr old DD & it would be nice to be able to go back to the ship if she poops out) and will be cheeper than booking anything through Disney.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or experiences you can share.

we went with our 19mo dd and had a good time

the beach is ok - nothing special - and alot of vendors that will bug you but the pool is awesome and they have a great kiddie pool. they also have a nice playground right near the pool that my dd enjoyed

the food was not bad - i had fish and my husband had a cheeseburger that he said was better than on the ship - we brought food for my daughter because i didn't want to chance any stomach issues with her

you are supposed to pay for a day pass with credit towards food but we told them we wanted to check it out first and they just let us back there - we had no problems

only 2 bad things -

1) they won't give you towels (and we even tried to pay them) so bring a few from the boat. we didnt' know this before we went

2) while it is walking distance for adults it is not a safe walk at all for kids and very difficult with a stroller. we jumped in a cab and for a few bucks went there and caught a cab back.

we did the same type of thing in cabo and went to the melia which is fantastic resort. they had "bed" type chairs to lay on with matresses which were so comfortable and they also had a little kiddie pool. the food is really good there and for $10/towel they will let you use theirs - it's refunded when you return them. you can get there by taxi or by water taxi which is a little tricky on the way home with the little ones but the boat ride was nice and we went for it!

the west coast cruise was awesome. flounders crew was good - sharee is the best of the bunch and really helped my dd with the adjustment of leaving her there. danielle runs it and martine is another good counselor. there is a 4th woman who i really didn't like at all. if you see sharee tell her that zoey's mom said hello!

have fun - and feel free to email me with any other questions

We just walked in the back entrance and walked to the pool area, found some chairs overlooking the beach and the waiter came by and we ordered Pina Coladas! Ummmmmmm. We did not pay anything to use the pool. I'll try to post some pictures. Sorry if they come out large! If you see the picture of the Magic in the distance, that is taken from the inside of the bak entrance looking back to the ship. It was about a 7-10min walk on cobblestone street. There was a real small sidewalk though.

Thanks for the pictures! Can you tell me how you found the back entrance? We've spent so much on this cruise, I'm looking for ways to economize and low cost shore excursions will help a lot.

In the afternoon we wanted to hit another resort, and went to the Krystal, a 5-7 minute walk from the ship, which welcomes both cruisers and crew for free day use, no towels included (bring ship towels). Don’t go the long way out to the main drag, take the shortcut down the back street. I’ll give these directions because there are so many messages asking how, and it is a bit hard to locate. Go off the gangway, walk to the right around the circular building, then across the square in front of the flea market, then head for the large white wall with a yellow wall behind it, go through the gate at the left end of the white wall, and go down this street to the end, where you will see the “Welcome cruisers to the Krystal resort”. You can see this route from an upper deck on the dock side of the ship.

This is from the cruise critic board which I printed and took with us, but before I could even read my directions about locating the colored walls, my DH was already out the fence and down the side street. You may think you are going the wrong way, but keep following that street and when you come to the end to the left you will see the small gate welcoming cruisers.
