Hi all! Picking up a hertz rental next week at MCO. I paid for a 5 passenger SUV and I’m a gold member. I haven’t been since 2019 and was wondering if they’re reserving specific cars for people or if it will be like
It used to where they say “pick anything in row X”. Trying to figure out what car we may end up with!

It wasn't MCO but last week at Logan it was pick anything from the row. Ended up with a better car than what I reserved.

With your reservation being for a higher class than necessary for the aisle I would expect there to be a space number on the board, but you would have the option to take anything from the Gold aisle.

I was debating rebooking the smallest SUV for a lower price and hoping I can walk out with the mid-size, but too chicken to risk it since we land later at night.

Could work out for you, but if you're willing to go with the smallest SUV, why not save more and go all the way to mid-size sedan? That is the cheapest option that still gets you access to the aisle. I've never had a problem with getting an SUV or large car when booking through the aisle, and that includes a half dozen rentals during the pandemic. I travel to MCO two to four times a year and travel with two other pretty big guys, I'm the smallest at 6'3" 220lbs. We've never been cramped but I can certainly understand the fear of not knowing how much space you'll have.

It's mainly a luggage concern or I'd take that advice. We will be screwed if we end up with a sedan as 4 adults with luggage. Usually we book sedan

In May I was assigned a specific car, but I was able to get it switched easily - same type but I needed a bigger trunk for my mom's scooter.

I booked a mid-size sedan and ended up with a decent size SUV

So I did downgrade to the small SUV to save $60. Not brave enough to downgrade all the way to a sedan 😂

I think it’s all about luck of the draw. I’m usually pretty picky about what I want. It just so happens that this was one of the few times I didn’t care.

Can you really pick anything from the gold aisle no matter what category you paid for? I went with the cheapest option when I booked, and sought out a car that seemed to match (small sedan) from the gold aisle. Could I really have chosen another car there without an upcharge?

I didn’t really pay much attention to the category labeling of the aisle. The just directed me to aisle C. However I’m assuming that the answer to your question is yes.

If you book an intermediate or above and are a member of Hertz Gold Plus you get to choose any vehicle in the aisle corresponding with your membership level. I've booked intermediate and taken large SUV before at MCO.

Gold member picked up very late 9/20. Well stocked, Tons of mini vans, small suvs (went with a rogue), a few sedans.

Vehicle making some strange sounds. Didn’t bother returning to exchange
