What is served at night? Any dress code? Hours?

Just saw something about changes.

Thanks,

Melanie

The dress code is the same as everywhere else. It is published on the front of the Personal Navigator each day. As for the menu, it does change.

Even in Topsiders? I thought it was ALWAYS casual there.

Topsiders is casual for dinner. Just as it is for lunch and breakfast.

Topsiders is always casual, making it a good alternative to the other dining rooms on formal and semi-formal nights. They have a decent basic dinner menu with nightly specials and a salad bar. My understanding is that you can ask for something on one of the other dining room menus (for that evening), since they all either share or have access to the same galley. I really liked Topsiders for dinner - unlike breakfast or lunch it was quiet, the food was tasty, and service was very attentive (even more so than in the dining rooms, if you can believe it - just don't expect any magic tricks or "excellent" service speeches). My only question is on tipping - the servers are not from the dining rooms and other than adding extra to the bar tab (which I don't believe goes to the servers) or leaving cash on the table I don't know how to take care of them.

Tips are not expected for the servers at Topsiders. They are basically "understudies" for the main restaurants onboard the ship and may eventually move into Server or Assistant Server positions after they have been with DCL for some time.

They are allocated tips from the "group tip" bank during each cruise. [This is the automatic gratuity that you pay whenever you buy any alcohol onboard the ship. It is distributed to the staff of the ship after each cruise.]

With that said, there is nothing to keep you from tipping the Topsiders staff if you wish to do so.

If you eat in Topsiders almost every night, are you still expected to tip the wait staff in the dining rooms that you would have had for the full amount? Stupid Question, I know, but I thought I read somewhere here that it is still expected.

Yes.

The Server and Assistant Server assigned to your table in the main dining rooms earn their living from the tips they receive. Regardless of the number of times you do or do not eat in the main dining rooms you are still expected to tip them.

Remember too, your servers work during breakfast and lunch. So you are really tipping them for that too even if you don't eat dinner in the dining room.
