Just checking in to see if anyone has been to Disney recently while eating gluten free. We've been several times before and I'm just curious if they seem to be carrying Udi's buns, Amy's pizza, Amy's mac and cheese, Kinnikinnick donuts at least at some locations. Any recent brand changes? I know things can change at any time and I also know things vary from location to location, but just checking in since we haven't been to Disney in 2 years and I want to have an idea of what they might have for my DD. Thanks!!

Hi!
We were at Disney in January as a gluten free family and will return again next week. In January we were served Vans waffles at Crystal Palace and Akershus. The other places (including Pop where we stayed) served a mix of Bobs Red Mill and Namaste mixes. We were still being served Ener-G rolls in January but I have heard they have replaced a lot of them with Udis. We were given Kinnikinnik muffins at Crystal Palace and Akurshus as well as a at Pop. We were also given a lot of Enjoy Life products including cookies and chocoalte bars. We were offered Amy's pizza and Mac and Cheese, but there were so many other options we did not order them.

We LOVED the options we were given at Pop. We had sirfry, pastas, fried rice and chicken tenders. My kids loved the allergy free tenders and my daughter even siad "why can't you make them like this!" :rotfl2:

Hope that helps! I'll update when I return in a couple weeks!:thumbsup2

I'm there fairly often these days (I live about 1 1/2 hours away)...so lately it's been about every 2 weeks. (Yep, I have a Disney dining problem and I'm not ashamed to admit it! :lmao::lmao:)

They do have the Udi's buns, but they also just recently started carrying the GNI Brand rolls (and some buns too, though I'm not sure what locations). You can also get a lot of the Udi's products too--A lot of places have the plain bread, but places like the Wave have cinnamon raisin bread and blueberry muffins! Kinnikinnick is also at Boma -- I regularly get the chocolate chip muffins and cinnamon sugar donuts there. Yum! :thumbsup2

A lot of places also carry the Namaste mixes for waffles/pancakes in addition to Bob's Red Mill which is used most often.

Hope that helps!

Thank you!!! Where have you found Udi's bread? Do they use it for GF sandwiches or more as a side like toast? My daughter loves their bread :) the only donut she likes is chocolate covered from Kinnikinnick so I think I will take some of those along with us...she is no a big eater an is hesitant to try new things, even getting her to taste a donut was a big deal. All of these GF options sounds so delicious!!

Oh gosh, all over at WDW! They use the buns for sandwiches (which I love) and also as a side for toast. Here are a few of the places I've had Udi's at:
  • Kona Cafe - bun for sandwiches
Cosmic Rays - bun for sandwiches
Flame Tree BBQ - bun for sandwiches
Contempo Cafe - bread/toast for sandwiches
The Wave - bread/toast (plain and cinnamon raisin), muffins
    Kouzzina - bread/toast (plain)

Those are just a few but lots of places have them now! Hope that helps :)

Oh great! If my daughter won't eat much else, she can have a roll or some bread with butter with her meal. They didn't have Udi's when we went in 2010 but I did email Disney about how great it tastes. Thank you!!

Happy to help! They started using Udi's around November 2011, so it's a pretty recent addition. I do like them a lot too--in fact one of my favs for bread. My mom (who is not GF/DF) thinks the Udi's is better than "regular" bread! :lmao:

While I agree that the Udi's buns are good, those dinner rolls aren't. I'm not sure why they're so different than everything else they make, but the small dinner rolls are dry with a sawdust kind of texture and taste like bad whole wheat. Just my opinion of course.

While I'm not there nearly as often as snorris (I'm so jealous that she lives so close), my most recent trip was August. My dining report still isn't finished yet, I do have a link to it in my signature. We're a lot more than just gluten free but you can get an idea of just what chefs can do. They can do a lot more actually for those who are only gluten free.

Yeah those rolls stink! I was just at Whole Foods today and saw they now have a french bread roll--I think I'm going to pick them up to see what they are like. The multi-grain ones are terrible! I will say that when I was just at LTT they replaced the Udi's rolls with another brand, GNI, I believe. I didn't think it was a great improvement and the sawdust texture was kind of worse than Udi's. But that's my opinion.

You should definitely check out Clanmuccloch's reveiws! She is very detailed and has great photos, plus she has a great variety of restaurants too :) I have to say her most recent visit at Trails End at Ft. Wilderness totally makes me want to go there now!

Thank you so much for the info and link to the blog! We are going to disney for the first time in 3 weeks with my gf daughter(7). We have dinner reservations at the Grand Floridian Cinderella dinner and the Boma buffet. Do you have any idea what may be available for her at these locations? Also, do you have a counter service lunch location at Magic Kingdom that you would recommend? Thanks so much!

So glad everyone's tips have helped! That's the wonderful thing about the Disboards :) Even though I go a lot, I still haven't been everywhere and I learn new places all the time.

I haven't been to 1900 Park Fare for dinner (I have for breakfast), but I know many people who have had great experiences there GF, especially if you get Chef TJ. He is really amazing and has a great following with those of us in the special diets community! It's been about a year since I've been to Boma for dinner, but they are always very good there. If you are just GF you should have a lot of great options (I'm GF/DF so the meats marinated in yogurt aren't safe for me). I love Boma. It's one of my favs and they are always really wonderful for allergies.

For me, I like to go to Cosmic Rays and Columbia Harbour House for allergies. Cosmic Rays has the most choices imo (I really like the grilled chicken sandwich on a Udi's bun or the rotisserie chicken!) but I also like to stop by Columbia Harbour House for the allergy friendly chicken tenders and fries. :thumbsup2

I hope you have a fantastic trip when you go in 3 weeks! It will be here before you know it :)

We ate at 1900 Park fare for dinner with Cinderella as a gluten free family in January. We were lucky enough to have Chef TJ and he was amazing. He first took me through the buffet to show me what was safe to eat off the buffet. Cross contamination is not a huge problem for us (DS has a behavioral reaction to gluten) so we felt very safe eating off of it.

He then asked us if there was anything specail we wanted. My kids both wanted chicken fingers as part of it if an ice cream. Chef TJ really delivered! We got a huge plate of chicken fingers and french fries cooked in a dedicated frier. We also brought out 4 kinds of safe dipping sauces for them including a spiicy chili one...SOOOOOOO good :thumbsup2

For dessert we had ordered a gluten free cake from the cake line and it was very tasty. Chef TJ also brought out an enormous plate with a pineapple, bamboo skewer with vanilla ice cream dripping with chocolate sauce. Our table was the envy of the restaurant. It felt really nice that he would take the time to make kids feel special, especially when we have to tell them "no" so often for treats. :cheer2:
