Does anyone have a recent review of this place? I know they only serve dinner now. I am interested in seeing some pictures of the food to show my kids. We are trying to decide between here and Whispering canyon. I know they are two totally different types of foods:lmao: Also could they just bring a platter of all Adult food? Or do the kids have to be served the kid food? My kids won't touch mac n cheese and would probably prefer the adult food. Any helpful advice?

I don't have pictures, sorry. But I can tell you from experience that I would chose Whispering Canyon Cafe over this any day of the week. The food is not very good. We have gone twice because our daughter loves the characters. To me it just isn't all that good. The meat is dry and they stopped serving the acorn squash.
Now the Character interaction is incredible. Which is why we are allowing her to drag us back again this year. I plan to eat something somewhere else afterwards!

sorry no photos either and we haven't eaten there in a number of years but when we did the character interaction was really, really good. I thought the food was just ok, DH hated it.

When we were having lunch there that time, next to us table just ordered desserts... and didn't they used to have a character ice cream social or something like that??

Yes, the character ice cream social used to be there. We did it once in 05? or 04...can't remember, but it was the last year before it closed. We LOVED it! So sad they're no longer doing it.
We haven't done dinner there...nothing looks appealing...
And I don't know first hand, but since they just bring you a platter of everything, you could probably just tell your waiter to save the kids food since your child won't eat it. I wouldn't think that would be a problem.

sorry again no pictures but we ate there in 08 and loved the food. the potato casserole was really good... and the catfish was good too..and the steak flanks were really good. My kids had mac and cheese and chicken tenders if i recall... It is our first resturant on our list to return to this july!

We were just there a few weeks ago and had a very good meal. I think at the family style places it might make a big difference to get an earlier ADR. If the place is packed and the kitchen is stacked up with work then the food quality is going to suffer. We had a 6pm ADR and the Turkey was PERFECTLY cooked, very moist...the flank steak was a BIT more done that *we* would like...but it was still very juicy...and had we asked for rare or medium rare we could have gotten it that way I'm sure. The catfsih was really good as well along with all of the side dishes...I REALLY enjoyed the spoon bread...never had that before...and it was so moist..mmmmmm.

The kids were certainly allowed to eat from the adult platter...and when we asked for seconds we specified exactly what we wanted more of. No issues with what the kids wanted to eat here...they could have whatever they chose.

I can only assume that people who are having bad experiences here are eating at peak times when the kitchen is swamped. I WILL say that we asked for a second helping of the potatoes near the end of the meal and they were NOT as good as the 1st batch...again..I attribute this to the timing...at 7pm the entire place is packed and the kitchen I'm sure is rushing things.

As far as the characters go..I don't think you could find a better place for interaction at a personal level. The layout of the place makes things very private and personal. You really get to spend some time with them and play around. We really enjoyed it and will be going back the next time.

I think we'll keep the ADR! We just need to tell the waiter not to bring Mac n Cheese, just the chicken strips, and we'll all eat off the platter of adult food. Our youngest has severe sensory issues and cannot stand the look and smell of mac n cheese. But will eat Turkey and rolls! Anyone with RECENT pictures are welcome to share them with us;)

I'll have to look and see if any of our GG character pics include views of the food haha. I meant to take food pics while we were there but with 2 boys aged 2 and 4 there tends to be more important matters to tend to while we are eating :)

I thought I had some food pics but I only have the kids "decorate your own cupcake" and the adult dessert pic. Guess you can tell which course of the meal is most important to me! lol!

That's what's important to me, too!:goodvibes

I thought the characters were no longer at GG? :confused3 I know I heard that somewhere....or they will be stopping the characters very soon??? Anybody else have info on this? I was surprised in reading the posts of recent character interaction......

Truly :goodvibes

They used to have lunch but no longer... only dinner.

DD and I ate there on our trip last year and are returning this coming May. We enjoyed the food. The character interaction was amazing! Mickey spent about 5 minutes at our table.

I love hearing all the positive posts! I know its not Boma, but we will be in Epcot, and wanted characters that are NOT princesses:sad2: So this will fit the bill.

This is one of our must-do's every trip!! My husband is a picky eater and even he loves it, especially the catfish. The salad is very fresh because the vegetables are grown downstairs and I could easily eat the entire bowl by myself!!

I hope this helps!!! :thumbsup2

Yes MickeyEars , thank-you very helpful!! I am looking forward to this as it will be our day we arrive so it will be fun to start out the week with Farmer Mickey!

I'm subscribing to this because I was looking for pics of Garden Grill and looks like none were ever posted. We plan on our first visit this July (if the ADR works out) and I will come back and post pics. Probably too late for OP, but maybe it will help someone else out.

We are eatting at the GG on the 25th, so I will try to remember to take some pics and come back and post them for ya'll!

I wont be back until the 2nd, so look for them then!

I might even get brave and get pics of the buffet, lol.

Also looking forward to any pics posted. We have this booked in June and there doesn't seem to be as much info about GG as other restaurants. My kids love the "chippies".
