Im hoping this is a yes. Id like DH to drop DS & I at the port then return car to Avis and just need to hop himself on the shuttle.
Can I get us checked in at port?
DH would like his room key on his charge and Im putting my key on my charge. Will they let me do this if I have his credit card w/me? Can we take care of this at guest services once we board?

Not sure about after 9/11, but on the sailing od the Magic that returned the Saturday BEFORE 9/11, we did this. I sat in line with our stuff, and my husband checked us both in.

We aldo only needed one credit card to have charging set up.

Good luck!

Kathy

before 9/11 we also did this, but won't plan on it going this way again at check in from here on out...

In January, I signed in for the family........they were busy wandering around the port, taking in the sights. They didn't get in the boarding line because I thought I'd need them there with me in the registration line. However, as security may tighten, I think I'd still like to have them there nearby just in case they are needed.

In July, I was able to check in my whole group (DH, DD, and DNiece)--all were nearby, but weren't needed for anything since I had all their paperwork. I don't think DCL is able to "split" your charges onto two different credit cards, but I'm not positive.

I am almost positive you can split the charges to have your own individual accounts( I have done this on other lineswhen tvl with friends) You do have to be there to sign the charge authorization, you would have to sign yours and he would sign his.

You can split the charges. My mom used her charge card and I used mine a recent cruise. You just have to have both available when you check in....she put her number on her check in coupons, I put my number on mine...

I just cruised a couple of weeks ago, and they had my family wait upstairs in the lobby while I parked the rental car. Then they had me join them and we checked in together.

At check in they will want to see your DH too along with his driver's license and birth certificate.

Last spring I tried to check us all in while husband waited in line with children; the Disney people insisted on seeing my DH in person even though I had his passport, etc., so I had to go get him so they could see him, then they finished checking us through.

Does this mean that it will be useless for my DH to drop me off at the terminal before returning the rental car to Avis? We're driving down on the morning of the cruise, and I was hoping to get an early start on things by checking in while DH returns the car. But if he has to be present at check-in as well, there's not much point. Argh! Now we'll have to show up even earlier to prep for the ressies rush.

I just posted this on the other thread where that question was asked:
Back in January I had a non-family roommate who checked in separately 30 minutes after I did, and it was no problem. Since of course we each had our own documents and individual KTTW cards with separate billing to our own credit cards, DCL did not care that we did not check in together.

Since that cruise was post-9/11 and even some families have had members check in separately, it appears that whether or not they allow this depends on which CM you end up with! However, when you present a credit card for billing on your KTTW, the owner of that card MUST be present.

Prior to 9/11, my DW was able to check me in while I was parking the car. She didn't have my credit card, but they allowed me to apply that to our account by stopping by Guest Services after boarding.

We have two cabins reserved - I reserved both cabins, but one is listed in my name the other in my husband's name. Can I check in for both cabins or will we each be required to check in? We wanted to do the same DH drop me and the kids off and him return the rental car!

Tammy

Your husband will need to check in personally for the stateroom that is reserved in his name, and you for the one that is reserved in your name.

At check in they were carefully checking our photo drivers licenses to us and our birth certificates too. I cannot imagine how they would do this for a guest not actually present there. For those who may have their traveling partner in the waiting area, they could perhaps be pointed out to the CM checking them in. But I do not think they will accept the ID's without the person being there in the Port. Plus if DH is off driving the car, shouldn't he have his license with him?

We're planning to use our passports as the main form of ID, and only carry DLs for occasional convenience, and of course because we'll be driving. ;) So I would have his passport with me at check-in, but it sounds like that may not be enough.

Maybe I could just go ahead and get in line, and then if the CM I happen to check-in with wants to see DH in person, I'll just wait until he shows up. We're planning to have both of our KTTW charge to the same credit card, so hopefully that won't be an additional issue.

Thanks for all the info on recent check-in practices!

On our cruise in May, my DH dropped us off and then went back to AVIS to drop off the car and return on shuttle. I was allowed to check us all in, HOWEVER, they would not give me his KTTW card until he arrived and show them his identification. He did not have to get back in line though. They told me to have him come right up the the counter and as long as he showed his ID they gave it to him. It worked out fine!

We also had two cabins reserved this past June. DH and I stood in the check-in line and checked ourselves and our two 18 yr. olds in. We had their DL and BC with us. The CM had no problem checking us all in without the two teens there.
