Hello all!

I got a hold of the navigators from the June 7th Western Cruise and I noticed on Sunday, June 8th -- they had a "Create your own Charm bracelet/Build-A-Pin/Pin Trading" event --- Does anyone have any further information on this? Build a pin? That sounds like a great thing, although I don't know how they would do it ... a charm bracelet ... well, I could go for that too! Are there any additional costs/charges to participate? If so, how much? Is it worth it? I am just getting into pin trading and this has me all excited ... Thanks for the replies ...

I went to this and actually was a little disappointed but I was looking for something else.

The build a pins are much like the build a pins they have in the parks. It is a larger pin which you can then customize with smaller add ons like Minnie, Mickey, Lilo, Stitch, etc. They are cute and I think would be great for children to customize their own.

There were a number of pin traders there that night - it was held outside the Walt Disney Theatre in the area by Walt's portait so there was room for them to spead out and show their stuff.

As for the charms - here is where my disappointment came in. I was hoping they would have italian charms - the kind that are bracelet links. Instead they had thin silver color old fashioned charm bracelets with lots of spring ring charms to go on them. Again this would be cute for a child starting a bracelet, but wasn't for me.

Hope this helps.

How much did it cost to build a pin and how much was it for the bracelet ... do you remember? I will be traveling with 4 kids and you can see that it can add up quickly if it is an expensive thing to do ... I can easily skip the event if the costs are too high ...

Thanks!

Sorry - since I really wasn't interested I didn't look at prices.

I just built a bracelet at the jewelry store in Disneyland; the charms were $3 each and I the bracelet was $5; it already had one charm on it (a rhinestone mickey), and I purchased 2 mickey hands, 2 mickey shoes, mickey's pants and mickey's hat, plus a red, white & blue mickey . . . so yes, at $3 each it added up! But DS3 LOVED it!!!
