Well, it wasn't really recent (about a year and a half ago) - but we've sailed concierge twice on the Wonder in a 1-bedroom suite, and not much changed in that time. However, I have never sailed out of Galveston, so don't know specifics about the availability of a concierge waiting lounge prior to the ship sailing. Once you are welcomed aboard in the first boarding group, you will go to the concierge meet up location. For us, it was the Cadillac lounge. You are assigned a concierge host who will review your itinerary with you, and at that time you can sign up for additional spa appointments, port activities, character meet and greets, wine and liquor tastings, etc.. The concierge hosts will have a full schedule available for you to take a look at. I'm not sure if the Wonder offers a galley tour for interested guests to see the kitchen facilities, but you can ask about that as well. Children aren't allowed, but it was pretty cool, and something I didn't know about on my first cruise (I didn't know about signing up with concierge for the alcohol tasting classes, either...). Rooms will usually not be ready for immediate access unless you board a bit later than allowed. I think they are generally ready around 1:00 or 1:30. There is a buffet of fruit, cheeses, and small items, as well as free drinks of your choice - both adult beverages and soft drinks / juices for the kids as well. After your itinerary review, you can leave your carry ons with the concierge team while you go eat a heavier lunch from either the buffet or the assigned lunch restaurant for the day, or you can go play in the pool, or you can just hang out with the finger foods in the lounge area until rooms are ready.
You will generally see your concierge host once or twice a day (depending on if you are in the room when they drop off your daily treat - which is usually a dessert, fruit, or cheese/crackers). If the Wonder has converted a dedicated space to a concierge lounge, I don't think there will be daily treat delivery. (But I think that might have been the Magic - so pardon my memory of the details - there was a change just recently). If there is a new lounge space, you can pop in there any time for snacks, and also before dinner for a cocktail hour with free alcoholic drinks.
There is also a concierge meet and greet reception on one of your sea days. It can vary from cruise to cruise, but you should get that information on the first day. It will include a character meet and greet, which will be especially fun for your daughter without having to wait in a long line. You can read my trip report from the Wonder West Coast sailing in my signature for more details - the first part concerns a stop at
Disneyland, so just skip ahead a few pages.
After the rooms are ready, you'll have a little time to make yourself at home before the muster drill which everyone has to attend. All ship services are shut down for that half hour. After that, don't miss the sail away party on the top deck - especially with your daughter. She'll think it's fun, and it's a great way to start the cruise and get excited.
At the end of the cruise, you will receive a nice surprise to take home with you. I won't spoil it, in case you don't know.
If you have any other specific questions, ask away! The concierge hosts are amazing, and even if they aren't hanging around in a "concierge lounge" like on the Fantasy and Dream, they are a phone call away and will be at your door almost immediately.
One thing I also didn't know on my first cruise is that the concierge hosts can do anything for you - even apply gift cards to your account. There is never a need to stand in line at Guest Services when you sail concierge (I did the first cruise, for both the aforementioned gift cards and also a Mixology Class).
Have fun and enjoy the pampering. Make sure that you've noted your daughter's birthday celebration with shoreside concierge or a reservation agent before you go!
