Please and thank you in advance!
We are sailing on the Wonder 1/4/16 out of Galveston. It is myself,DH and Dd. We are celebrating her 6th birthday. We have stateroom 8602 (one bedroom concierge with verandah). I have general questions about embarkation day and some various concierge amenities. Maybe someone has a trip report I could read? I'm a big planner so I like to know what to expect and be over prepared. Thanks again.

Well, it wasn't really recent (about a year and a half ago) - but we've sailed concierge twice on the Wonder in a 1-bedroom suite, and not much changed in that time. However, I have never sailed out of Galveston, so don't know specifics about the availability of a concierge waiting lounge prior to the ship sailing. Once you are welcomed aboard in the first boarding group, you will go to the concierge meet up location. For us, it was the Cadillac lounge. You are assigned a concierge host who will review your itinerary with you, and at that time you can sign up for additional spa appointments, port activities, character meet and greets, wine and liquor tastings, etc.. The concierge hosts will have a full schedule available for you to take a look at. I'm not sure if the Wonder offers a galley tour for interested guests to see the kitchen facilities, but you can ask about that as well. Children aren't allowed, but it was pretty cool, and something I didn't know about on my first cruise (I didn't know about signing up with concierge for the alcohol tasting classes, either...). Rooms will usually not be ready for immediate access unless you board a bit later than allowed. I think they are generally ready around 1:00 or 1:30. There is a buffet of fruit, cheeses, and small items, as well as free drinks of your choice - both adult beverages and soft drinks / juices for the kids as well. After your itinerary review, you can leave your carry ons with the concierge team while you go eat a heavier lunch from either the buffet or the assigned lunch restaurant for the day, or you can go play in the pool, or you can just hang out with the finger foods in the lounge area until rooms are ready.

You will generally see your concierge host once or twice a day (depending on if you are in the room when they drop off your daily treat - which is usually a dessert, fruit, or cheese/crackers). If the Wonder has converted a dedicated space to a concierge lounge, I don't think there will be daily treat delivery. (But I think that might have been the Magic - so pardon my memory of the details - there was a change just recently). If there is a new lounge space, you can pop in there any time for snacks, and also before dinner for a cocktail hour with free alcoholic drinks.

There is also a concierge meet and greet reception on one of your sea days. It can vary from cruise to cruise, but you should get that information on the first day. It will include a character meet and greet, which will be especially fun for your daughter without having to wait in a long line. You can read my trip report from the Wonder West Coast sailing in my signature for more details - the first part concerns a stop at Disneyland, so just skip ahead a few pages.

After the rooms are ready, you'll have a little time to make yourself at home before the muster drill which everyone has to attend. All ship services are shut down for that half hour. After that, don't miss the sail away party on the top deck - especially with your daughter. She'll think it's fun, and it's a great way to start the cruise and get excited.

At the end of the cruise, you will receive a nice surprise to take home with you. I won't spoil it, in case you don't know.

If you have any other specific questions, ask away! The concierge hosts are amazing, and even if they aren't hanging around in a "concierge lounge" like on the Fantasy and Dream, they are a phone call away and will be at your door almost immediately.

One thing I also didn't know on my first cruise is that the concierge hosts can do anything for you - even apply gift cards to your account. There is never a need to stand in line at Guest Services when you sail concierge (I did the first cruise, for both the aforementioned gift cards and also a Mixology Class).

Have fun and enjoy the pampering. Make sure that you've noted your daughter's birthday celebration with shoreside concierge or a reservation agent before you go!

We sailed concierge on the Wonder in October. In addition to what has already been posted, you will have 1 or 2 cocktail parties in the evenings (located in the Outlook café). They are before the dinner seatings but if you have another reception during the day (welcome aboard or family reception), you will just have the cocktail party before second seating.

You will have free coffee drinks from the Cove Café for the whole cruise.

The rooms for concierge are ready by 12:30 and there will be a CM stationed at the ropes to let you in and take you to your room (since the other guests cannot access the area until 1:30).

The room will be stocked with water and soda but if your DD has something else she likes to drink, just ask. My DD never drinks soda so the host arranged for lemonade to be placed in the fridge for her.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

A couple of things that I can think of that recently changed for concierge on the Wonder:

All non-alcoholic drinks from the Cove Cafe are now free

There is no dedicated lounge, but to make up for that, there are 2 concierge receptions every night in the upstairs portion of the Cove Cafe, for an hour or so before each dining time. Kids are allowed and there is an open bar & snacks. Both hosts will be there to help you with anything you need.

We did still get our daily snack delivered to our room each afternoon.

We just got off today. Wonderful experience in every way. First cruise ever and will never sail non concierge. A true vacation. While others were standing in lines for meet and greet tickets or to get special star wars pins, our host had it all taken care of.

Thank you all so much. This information has been very helpful. A few more questions please?
I read somewhere that the suite doors are not magnetic?
What time should we arrive at the port in Galveston? At what time is disembarkation the last day? I have to arrange a car.
While staying club level at WDW we could take a beer back to the room. I assume this is not the case during the cocktail receptions?
Can I take a soft sided Yeti cooler? (we will be at a Resort in Puerto Rico for 5 days after the cruise)
Thanks again

Suite doors are magnetic, however, on the Dream class ships, the concierge doors have a wood veneer on them, necessitating heavier duty magnets.

If you have a drink in your hand (of whatever type) you may carry it with you wherever you wish onboard the ship.

Coolers, except for medical/dietary reasons are not allowed.

We just got back in yesterday. Stayed in room 8102 concierge 1 bedroom.

It was amazing and will never do it any other way.
Doors are magnetic, you can bring any drinks anywhere from the cove. We always got one to go!!! I recommend trying the drink of the day everyday that way you don't have to waste money if you don't like it.
I brought a cooler bag and there was no problem. They give you sodas and water daily in the room and if you run out you can ask for more. We were able to request ginger ale as well.
We got to the port in Galveston and were there WAY TO EARLY. Our plane landed at 6am and the transportation for Disney does not start till 9am so we ended up getting a driver to the ship and Disney refunded the $$. Next time we will prob go the night before.

They start check in at 10:30 and were the first to check in however the girl that helped us was new so didn't know where to send us. There is a concierge only waiting area and as soon as they start boarding you are the first to go on. They did not board till noon. I would say in the future we will get there at 11ish. It was nice to be boarded via concierge first because we got all our planning out of the way. Any special tickets are saved and you don't have to go to guest services which is nice. We had tickets for making a gingerbread house, princess meet and greet, frozen meet and greet and carector breakfast.

Also you can request dinner in your room instead of going to dinner which is super nice as well.

ANYTHING YOU NEED ASK the concierge, it was nice and easy that way. Came home super relaxed! We were off the ship at 8am and bags picked up at that time as well.

What, may I ask, is the drink of the day? And has anyone prepurchased the digital photo package? DD and I love pictures
