We only have one day at the parks in 2 weeks and couldn't get a dinner reservation.

When is the best time to go for lunch and whats the wait like now?

Thank you!

I can't answer from experience, but I've been reading these BOG posts because we're in the same boat.
From what I've been reading, you should get in line around 10:30 - some even say 10:00 - depending on how busy it is.
I'm sure someone will come along soon who's been there... I hope!

We were there on 3/24. Got in line around 9:30am for a 10am opening. We went by super early (it was Easter week so there was 7am EMH) to see what time they opened - they let us go in and peek around inside. They weren't letting people line up that early so around 9:25. I went by to see what was up and by 9:30, they were letting people get in line. 10am would have been ridiculously early for lunch if we hadn't been up so early. By the time we were done, the line wound down the path and around the corner - I don't remember exactly how far - but it was long.

It was fun but I'm not sure I'd wait 2 hours in line. 30 minutes was perfect.

(Note I think the 10am opening might have been just for that week since it was so busy. Check when you arrive at the park.)

We were there last month and went twice for lunch-- 1st time we got there around 10:45 thinking they opened at 11(they open at 10:30). The line was fairly long, but not as bad as when we came out! We waited around 30 mins to get to the castle and prob another 15 or so waiting to get into the room where you order. Second time we got in line at about 10:10 and waited until about 10:35 to get into the castle and then 15 mins again to get to order. The problem there is people not being ready to order when it's their turn-- they have CMs giving out menus all along the line so people are ready, but once in that ordering room it's a cluster mess--- they should be telling people to please be prepared with their order when giving the menus to look over-- no doubt that is the biggest holdup.

We ate there last week. I don't think we got in line until around 11. We waited about 30 minutes. Not bad at all.

30 minutes is pretty standard and I too really wish they would encourage people to know what they want when they get to the terminal or make them step aside until they do. You have been holding a menu for 20 plus minutes, why do you wait to decide until you get up there.

We are guessing we were on line for less than 30 min; it seemed to move well. I got the pork, and loved it. We don't remember when we got on line, but we were done by 12:30. The line was a little shorter when we got out. Don't be afraid of a long line.

What's it like for a later lunch, like say 1:00 or 1:30?

(We're going in September, when crowds are much lower than right now.)

Are you finding the wait the CMs are quoting accurate or not? A friend just came back and said she was told 75 min waits the couple times they tried to get in.

We went in December and just last Sunday 4/28 and waited about 30 min each time with the line close to the end of the bridge. The beautiful theming is totally worth the wait!

I cut & pasted this from WDWMAgic, mrsroboto; but I can't vouch for it's veracity.

Do you recall what time you got in line, anotherhb?

Thanks!

I believe it was actually about 12:15. I remember thinking oh no...I'm starving, surely the wait will be huge around noon, but when we walked over I was pleasantly surprised. Perhaps it was just a lucky momentary lull..

We went for Lunch a week ago today!! We went for later lunch 1-1:30. Waited about half an hour in line, then about 10 mins for our food. It was worth the wait, as the atmosphere is different than at dinner!

There really aren't "average wait times" at BOG, it all depends on how busy the park is and how many people think it's worth waiting to eat there. If you can arrive when the restaurant opens, usually at 10:30, you can get in fairly quickly since the dining room is empty. The time they stop letting people in for lunch depends on the restaurant's capacity for the day, though usually the latest you can arrive is between 2 and 2:30.
