Anyone want to share their recent Alamo experiences with their compact cars? We usually rent a midsize but got a much better rate on a compact that we are going with it. There are only 2 of us so it will be big enough but last time I got a compact (Dollar-Caliber-never again!!) it had rollup windows and no remote entry key. Just like to hear what others have gotten recently!

I rented 2 econo from Alamo in Feb for $33.60 ea a day. We checked in online and had no problems at all. It was great. I am doing it again 3 different times in July/Aug.

Do the on line pre-registration, use the kiosk at the airport, and then you can walk to the garage and pick your car off the aisle.
This past march we had reserved a mid, and climbed into a minivan on the mid size aisle.
there were mini vans on the compact aisle, too
Good luck!

I never even thought to look down the isles. We just took the first one we seen .... lol!!! Will have to check in July.

We ALWAYS book Alamo...

recheck the pricing.... Pricing was holding steady then last week they went up by about $40... this morning they are back down...

Yes, as other poster mentioned you can reserve online. You can do the "save time" by registering your info online. Then use the kiosk at the counter. go to garage & pick whatever car in that category you want.

Hey does anyone know how many regular size suitcases an econo car really holds? We had one in Feb and it held 2 but never really noticed how much room was left?

CAn some one please tell me how you can pick any car off the isle even if you only reserve a midsize? Also we are a family of 5. Can we fit in an economy or anything smaller than a midsized car? WE will only be in it to and from airport and maybe once out in town. THanks.

Just go down the isle whatever is there you can take....they put them there!!! Yes 5 can fit into an econo...the only thing is the luggage which I am trying to figure out for 4.

Agree with the earlier posts...just had an Alamo compact 2 weeks ago in MCO. Took a Hyundai Elantra. In the compact row they had several Kia Spectras, Chevy Cobalts (took one of those a year ago and liked it) and even a Volkswagen Beetle (which I almost took, but there was a big scratch on the rear bumper and I didn't want to deal with it). I think the Elantra I took was the only one at the time. Liked the Elantra as well.

Since I only have experience with the Elantra and Cobalt, I would think either would be plenty of room for two of you.

We took the Kia and to go back we took the Elentra. I remember the Elentra had a good size trunk, we got our 2 suitcases and carry ons in it with some extra space but dont know how much? If worse comes to worse 1 or 2 cases will have to go in the back with the kids...or maybe I should just take ME and get the car at CCC on Disney. I just wanted to go to do our reg shopping that we do the first day, so instead of getting to the hotel then going back out I wanted to go straight from the airport but........there will be no room for groceries right!?!?!?

How do they know you got the minivan (or other) from the midsize aisle, if you were lucky enough to see one there? Do you have to prove it? Sorry to be so confused...guess I've never seen anything in the aisle except the size that belongs there. Is this common?

Hey, now that you ask I'm kinda wondering the same thing...what if they wanna say we took it from a different aisle?

Me too LMAO!!!!! You would have to ask someone who actually got an upgrade in their isle. I have only done it twice and we pretty much grabbed the first ones we seen...lol

When you walk into the garage you will see the cars in rows by category. It will say economy, compact, midsize, full size, etc... you walk to that row and all the cars in that row are your category. You can walk up and down that aisle and take the car in that category. We try to choose one that will stand out:laughing: Last one was a bright canary yellow

Yes but what happens if there's say an SUV in the midsize aisle. I can take that but how do they know we didn't take it from another aisle? I don't want to be charged a different price on return....

There shouldn't be an SUV in the midsize aisle. Previous renters are not putting the vehicles in the garage. Staff is arranging them by car category.
All cars are by category and clearly marked. You will not be confused when you get there.

Here is a link to the Alamo site. Click on the tab up top that says "Cars" it will show how many passengers (adults, children, toddler) can fit along with how much luggage can fit, per car category. It also shows the vehicle features.

Thank you! I did look at the website to see how many people and luggage can fit but to me that is wrong for the ones I have been in. We just had an econo and we fit 2 big cases in with no problems, we also put our hand luggage on top. I was just wondering if anyone knows how many can fit in? Like has anyone put 3 cases in the trunk of an econo.

Thanks again!

okay...so my ocd is rearing its ugly head:headache:
If no one is able to answer your question you could go to your local car dealership to see what the car looks like (look in the hatch)?:rolleyes1

Yes, sometimes you'll see a minivan in the midsize aisle, or a midsize in the compact, etc. If that happens, you can take the vehicle for your reserved rate. But you can't go to the wrong aisle and take one. When they scan you on the way out, you'd get flagged.
